    @Destria

    Apparently not. A device's DNS settings will override the router and Chromecast is hardwired with Google's DNS servers (8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4).

    I checked again and it can be done with DD-Wrt enabled router but many are not compatible. This is custom firmware and I'm not sure how well it would work with certain ISPs especially cable since they can access the router directly to fix problems. I'm not sure if this is possible with UnblockUs. More hassle than it's worth.

    I was almost in that place when Unblock-Us stopped working with Sky. But magically, it's fixed again!

    Nexus 5 ordered - should be with me by Tuesday :)

    Edit: make that a week tomorrow - an early birthday present from me to me - mate of mine popped into Carphone Warehouse this lunch time and picked up a 16gb model for 295 cheaper than the Play Store price.

    My contract is up in a couple of weeks. Going to get a Nexus 5 from the Play store and reduce my tariff on o2.

    Picked one up this morning. Happy so far, had a Samsung note which got damaged. Screen is amazing, razor sharp with great colour and contrast. OS is very fast after Touchwiz, and the full screen feature is very nice when reading. Tried a few games and all run fine, installs and loading times are very quick.
    Generally no lag, camera is very fast to respond and quality is good. Took a picture of my black and tan coloured dog in low light and it came out well exposed, not much noise and sharp.
    Of you do something CPU intensive the back gets a little warm.
    Cannot assess battery yet, but it seems to be holding up fine to my almost constant playing.
    Just watch out as there is an update as soon as you boot it, so I advise making sure you have WiFi available.

    My contract isn't up until next November, but take it here won't be a problem with me buying this phone sim free and just putting my SIM card in and using the new phone?

    As long as it's a micro sim then it should be fine. You might need to configure some data or sms/mms settings

    @CosmicFuzz that's what I did, as @crashvoodoo says, make sure you have a micro SIM card.

    Or just cut the SIM card you have down.

    @Tonka sorry to post this, but KitKat is pretty clever - now when you call a business, we were looking for a new local vets, after the call a photo of the office/location pops up, plus the name of the business - nice... just save to contacts and no need to edit!

    * I'm assuming it's a KitKat thing?

    Samsung have promised Kit Kat support for the S3 and the S4, though no idea how long it'll be.

    @eleven63 Yep, that's KitKat

    In the meantime I've got my First Automatically edited Auto Awesome Videos (who ever is responsible for naming stuff att Goog needs both a pat on the back and a whack over the head)

    Anyhows. My automatic Auto Awesome Videos (henceforth known as AAV) had bits of my manually created AAV in them.

    That said. I'm head over heals about AAV. (no matter if I edit them myself or goog do it for me) Such a pleasure to use. I used to missiMovie. Now I just want Goog to get their thumb out and let me edit films I've uploaded rather than only the ones on my Phone.

    That and get KitKat out the fucking door

    One of my colleagues made some of those. I need to look into that. Looks like a fairly decent result.

    For the amount of effort you have to put in it's mindblowing.

    I was sitting in my comfychair, with ten minutes to kill and made two short films with various clips of the boys. It's brilliant like that. A bunch of clips and some shots of "Naawww cute" moments get bunched up into one friendly package. And then the original dime-a-dozen clips can be erased to make room for the next batch.

    Ah fuck it. Here's an example. Some really blurry shots and and crap clips of Kid A trying on the beta stage of his Halloween costume. The quality was so shit I regretted buying an N4. Then I chucked it all into AAV and did NO FIDLING AT ALL and all of a sudden I have something I'm really happy to watch:

    I have soooooo many little clips of Olivia as a baby, toddler, ... from the past 4 years.
    I keep thinking I should look into some editing software and really sit down to try and sort them into something useful.
    I guess this might help making it happen within the next decade.

    @Salaman As soon as they solve the logistics of it. As it is now you can only edit clips that are "physically" on your device. But I suspect this will change soon enough.

    I'm seriously tempted to get a Nexus 7 just to edit all our gazillion little clips and pictures into something useful as you say.

    Since Android has a bunch of file managers it's not that much of a problem that the clips need to be on the device anyway.

    So they can be clips from a different camera, they don't have to be from the phone's camera? Sounds tempting.

    @monkman76 They can be from any camera as long as they're on your device. But I tried it with a longish clip in 1080p and it wouldn't work. Depends on the specs of your device I guess.

    But once I converted the clip to 720p it worked fine
