I have an old nexus s for situations like this and it will suffice for a few weeks.

I would rather have the maximum cash for mine now so that I have the buying power straight away, I hate trying to sell at the same time as others when the next gadget comes out.

Very weird being back on the nexus s. Still a very snappy phone but the screen feels too small and its taking some time adjusting back to the keyboard.

My S2 took one drop too many, cracked the top if the screen. Still perfectly useable, but I reckon I can get a Nexus 5 out of this. I've been eyeing up the new Nexus 7, this might be a happy halfway house....

Why not push the screen size a touch further and try out the Note 3? The bezel on the Nexus 7 makes it huge compared to a 5.5" phone, without really adding a lot of screen size. A 5.5" phone and a 10-12" tablet seem to partner pretty well.

You might even be able to get a good deal on a Note 2 now they're no longer flagship.

The S2 is a good little phone. My wife's contract is up in the new year, and I still haven't seen anything that convincingly surpasses it. Big enough battery, fast enough, small enough, big enough, updated enough... I'd really like us to be trying out some other manufacturers, but Samsung's shotgun approach always seems to get one of their products closest to our criteria. :-(

Didn't they release a S4 with stock android?

    I'd get that.

On pretty much stock 4.2.2 with a few enhancements for my S2.

Phone is pretty battered but the screen's perfect since I've always used a protective film.

Was pleasantly surprised by how much a new battery helped and the old one is useful to have for a bit of extra life.

Definitely the best phone I've ever owned, and since where I live phones aren't subsidised think it'll be at least a year until I'm seriously considering an upgrade.

Yeah google play edition. Ive binned off the nexus 5 idea and bagged a BNIB GS4 from av forums. Its mint and came with a class 10 32gb sd card and 2 cases (spigen & samsung) for just over 300 notes.

It arrived this morning and ive rooted it already and put the play edition rom on it.

Easy guide with everything you need.

If anybody is after the official Nexus 7 dock, it's currently in the Asus store for 17.50 with free shipping. Just grabbed myself one as I've always wanted one, but there was no way I was going to pay the best part of 30 for it.

Anyone having a problem with a nexus 7 or other android device? Keeps coming up with a message saying cannot connect to Google servers. Click cancel and it goes back to normal home screen block sign in and it tries and fails.

They are gearing up for the KitKat launch. It will be something to further lock in Googles vision of Android out of reach from Samsung et al.

They have said stuff like "Bringing Android to EVERYONE" etc. This can only mean an expansion of Google Play services.

Just bought one and also grabbed a new nexus 7 to play about with. Chromecast was an easy set up on my hotspot and controlled it with my wife's iphone.the only app of any use right now is Netflix but that is all I wanted and it works well.

    The 2DS I reckon.
  • Deleted user 30 October 2013 15:18:06
Only the nexus and chromecast, think I'm going to return the nexus though. There is just no point to it when I have a 5" screen phone. No specific apps to make it stand out either.

Chromecast has hard-wired DNS so you can't use UnblockUS or a similar service to access the US Netflix. This is the main reason I'll never get it.

I still use my old Nexus 7 daily. I think I'd rather get a Nexus 10 2013 edition than the new Nexus 7.
  • Deleted user 30 October 2013 16:16:30
Shit didn't know I wouldn't be able to use unblock us. That has ruined it somewhat knowing that.
