Mine is fine, pretty cool gadget. Great to be able play Full Throttle, Grim Fandango, Baldur's Gate 2 and so many classics on the go. Easy enough to connect mouse/keyboard/360 controller.

Can you play Scumm games without rooting? And are they touch screen UI? May have to get involved.

    Yes and yes.

    https://play.google.com/store/search?q=scummvm

You have to download an add-on for each game (or series of games), and provide the game files yourself though.

    I totally called it.

They work great, haven't rooted mine and have Dos Turbo, so any Dos game works, residual for Grim Fandango and ScummVM. Idea for any old school gamer.

Been playing through my old DOTT and Indy point and clicks again. DOTT still makes me smile considering how old it is. First PC game I ever bought for my old 486SX25 wooo!!!

Do you guys really think they will release a new one shortly? I wonder how much better it could be. I need to suppress this sudden, unexplainable need for a new tablet...

A new one might be announced next month. Google has an event in May where Android Key Lime Pie is likely to be unveiled.

Its not looking like KLP anymore but JB 4.3

KLP will probably come later on the year now with new phone(s)

Good call. But on the other hand. Google ain't exactly Apple when it comes to putting new HW in the hands of its customers.

Apple: "These are available apple.com RIGHT NOW SUCKERS. GO BUY!"
Google: "Yeah, so we have like three of theses in our online store ... in select markets... maybe (18 week delivery)"

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

I know. But they'll probably show some elements of it at IO.

Sucks you always have to restart though. I doubt I'll ever get far past 10.

Looking for a desktop charging dock for my Nexus 4. Preferably one without any branding on it. Anybody got any recommendations?

I love my Nexus - but boy does the battery go quick! Any tips on extending the poor girl's life?

Turn off wi-fi when it's not needed. Turn off auto-brightness. Play less games and video. All the obvious stuff really that you probably don't want to hear!

It's a common problem with most handsets these days sadly.

Juice Defender has really helped maximise battery life - you can automate what to come on, when etc. Turn off background data, turn off sync. You lose much of the automation, but sure you're not bothered about refreshing when needed.

The problem is batteries, not the devices.

    /obvious post is obvious

But really, with so many portable devices these days you'd think there would have been some kind of breakthrough by now.

Two Nexus 7 questions for today, as we're now a two-Nexus household:

    1. Is there anywhere on the high street I can pick up a screen protector today that doesn't cost 12+? I almost spat tea over the monitor just then when I checked Argos and Carphone Warehouse.

    2. The new Nexus is for my daughter. If I set it up with my Google account details will she have access to all of my account (email and the like) or will she still need passwords and such? I wasn't going to set up a new account but now I'm thinking maybe I should.

    Thanks, chaps.

I think your gmail will just stay logged in and not require a password as it's a universal account.

You can force password entry for the store but not for the gmail app AFAIK.

Right, sounds like I need to set up a new account then. Bit of a pain but I can sort it before she gets in from school. Cheers!

Did that Google event happen already? I did not notice anything.
So they might actually abandon the Nexus 7 completely...
