Sounds like you care too much about what other people think. Whenever I have played my 3DS/DS out in public I find most people dont give a shit except one or two who try and get a look at what I am playing.

TBH its probably too big to be useful as a portable its probably more aimed at those who play handhelds at home when the TV is taken. Nintendo might of thought it would be better to release it now before that kind of use is made obsolete by the WiiU

Ha ha, my daughter has exactly that model!

Give yourself 5 or gig, you're worth it.

I was a little annoyed when I first saw the XML this morning but I opened up my 3ds to play a little vvvvv (cleared the main game with 16 trinkets last night with 2,500 deaths so am off to find more death and shiny things) and I realised that the 3ds I had in my hOands was just fine and the annoyance and the hunger for the xl faded away now I'm just looking forward to threatryhrhm, nsmb2 and prof Layton

Wonder why no second analogue. Does this mean there will be a scaled up version of the circle pad pro or have they gone off the idea of twin stick games?

Looks ace tbh but it raises a shit load of questions for me.

i think there will be a CCP XL. If i am correct the CCP was created as part of the exclusivity deal with capcom over monster hunter. If that's the case i am pretty sure an xl version will come out soon.

Having said that, i haven't brought a CCP for my 3DS and have been able to play almost everything (you need it for MGS 3)

True. Resident Evil convinced me that even with it, those circle sliders are shite for twinstick games anyway.

It looks nice but I'm happy I've got the smaller screen. I sometimes have issues with the 3DS effect and a headache after playing for an hour or two, god knows what a 90% bigger 3D screen would be like!

I am. Nintendo products burst in to flames in my hands now if I try playing them.

Seems like a pointless hardware revision. Unless Battery length and Screen size were the two biggest complaints about the current 3DS, then I see no point. Hopefully this will drop the price of the regular 3DS as it's coming in at a very competitive price point.
  • Deleted user 22 June 2012 11:36:41
Not really, it's not a revision just and alternate version for people with spade hands :D

I was waiting for a dual analogue revision but as it stands now I may just buy a regular 3ds. That new one is far too big for my taste.

Screen size is a factor for me, if I don't get screwed on the trade-in I'll put my old one against this new one.

No second stick, also the games will probably look like shit when upscaled. Not feeling this one.

Zavvi wants 210, Play wants 180. i suppose they are all just guessing at what they think they can get away with!

Standard model goes for about 120 online, so that's a bit of a hike.

Still, am strongly considering importing a US model later on just for the games that don't get released here.

It's slightly bigger than a classic DS!

I'm quite tempted by this. The d-pad looks in a better place, and I'm a fan of the proper buttons for start etc. I don't use my 3DS in public anyway, so that's no concern, though I do lark it about for the streetpass hits, and this might be too big to fit in a pocket easily.

It's a bit strange them selling this as an upgrade without a charger when they haven't even released Brain Training or any of the 'casual' games yet.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

  • Deleted user 22 June 2012 14:21:36
The charger is included in the US, not sure about EU.

@mal i read on kokatu that they are releasing brain training in japan on the same day the xl is released. I can imagine it will have a nice boost in sales from this.

Looking at the brain training video roz put on the 3ds thread i am quite looking forward to it.

Well, that's even more odd. Granny gamer's going to need to buy the game, the 3DSXL and a (probably third party) charger. Oh well, as long as the US and EU versions come with a charger.

Edit: Although I guess this uses the same charging port as the DSiXL, so that's the intended upgrade.
