I'm sorry to see the challenge come to an end, but I suppose your arteries will be thankful. :p
I think the damage is done lol I'll probably return for just one more special EG tribute burger voted by forum members for me to make!

Surely the macho Nacho would have been less bulky (and kinder on the jaw) if you'd made 8 slim burgers,as per the recipe, instead of 8 great big fat ones? :p
Absolutely right, and that's how I would have done it if I had made my own burgers! But with the elsco burgers they were big and chunky and when I started crushing one down it started to break a bit and was still huge. I would have run the risk of destroying the first burger and ended up frying like 1 or something at a time so decided just to go with what I had. I would have been a lot happier with the final result but ah well :)

The place I'm going on Saturday night do wagyu beefburgers. Are they worth a look or am I better sticking with a trusty fillet steak (which is around the same price)?

Wagyu is wasted in burgers, you can't tell the difference. The difference is when you cut into wagyu steak and the the knife goes through it like hot butter. When you chew it it should just be soft and succulent.

Made pork burgers last night. put salt and pepper, thyme, chipotle, a bit of finely chopped bacon and wholegrain mustard in the patties.

Different but good. Topped them with some fake gouda, tomato and lettuce. Didn't bother with sauce as I think the patty had enough flavour in.

Me and my wife have agreed. The Honky Tonk starts our cheese and burger society journey next Saturday. Fairly simple start to proceedings.

While I'd dare not question Burger King Bob and his ultimate burger Godness I'm convinced that's some crisp pulled pork in that burger not bacon so I'll make some and throw pepper and fry it crisp for the burger. I'm thinking I'll have to bake my own buns to hold it all though.

Question is, am I sad I'm planning my burger meal 7 days ahead?

    @bad09

And so it begins. You know walk the road i trod before, my son. Go with grace and napkins and a belt with plenty of extra notches.

Good choice to start. The best ones are the simplest. The crazy ones are really fun of course. In the description it says "peppered pork" which i interrupted as bacon just coz it was the easiest and I'm a lazy fucker :D also, bacon is always win! But yeah it could be anything. It's probably not bacon or it would say bacon.

    Go forth! Don't forget pic!

    Yeah I'll take pics!

It feels like a pilgrimage. The mushroom ones I am on my own (she'll eat them as long as she can't see them :) ) but I'm planning to try them all.

Mushroom is good. I remember the Swiss being one of my faves. The only one i didn't really like is the one that uses eggy bread. For me, It just didn't work at all textually

Looking forward to it. The wife is a pain, she loves the taste but can't eat mushroom if she sees it, it has to be finely chopped. Yeah, I've called her a child :)

    Nooooooooooooooo!

My burger plans are delayed until next weekend. Bloody relatives inviting us to fucking boring parties when I should be at home creating godly burgers. No fucking consideration..... :)

If you're letting things like family get in the way of your quest you have to ask yourself if you've really got what it takes.

    Have you?

There's two kinds of people in this world. Those that make ungodly burger creations and those that tell their relatives to fuck off. WHICH ONE ARE YOU, son?

I'd love to tell them to fuck off but it's the wife's relatives and it is a poxy baby shower/party so I haven't got a chance in hell of blowing it off . I'm lumbered and got to stay the night to :(

We've now agreed on Monday doing sod all at home though so my journey is delayed just 2 days.

    Woo hoo!

Through the very unfortunate situation of one of my poor cats having a massive abscess on his face that urgently needed surgery today (he's fine and recovering, albeit leaking blood everywhere, good job I have laminate :| ) I get out of the crappy baby shower tomorrow as we need to keep an eye on him.....which, as the wife so kindly pointed out, means I'm back on to start my burger journey with the Honky Tonk! From tragedy comes triumph
