Registered 6 years agoIt must be alternatives. I think the Wisconsin bit is just the brand. Swiss cheese is Swiss cheese. Cheddar is Cheddar.
Brighter pictures would be nice, but I'd recognise the yummy monster beneath that '70s Wimpy apperance any day. Besides - who'd want to waste time taking pictures when one could scoff the fat beauty instead? This post is unsuitable for those with a high rumour-sensitivity.

Registered 6 years ago@fletch7100 - 0_o OMG! Well... The Macho Nacho ( burger no. 30 ) is not that far off that! Consider these burgers as training. I plan to use a whole round loaf ( 400g ) and put the 4 to 8 burgers and filling in that. I will not be serving fries with that.
@Razz Yes I use alternatives. I do quite a lot of research to get it as close as I can, reading multiple sources, and pick the closest. When it says american cheese I just use Monterey Jack cheese because it is good American melting cheese. I will use cheese slices though if it's similar it's listing American cheese and it looks similar. The cheeses have been the hardest thing to get hold of.
I use the same process for the other ingredients too. If I can't find or don't know what something is then I will do a lot of research to find out what it is and if I can't get hold of it then will find something that is very close. I'm trying to get the burgers as close as I can to the original.
@slurmishNo, it's not cheese slices but I'm not above using them
See above!

Registered 6 years agoDING DING DING DING ITS the firehouse!

A juicy home made beef patty in a Chiabatta roll with jalapeno peppers, prosciutto ham, havarti cheese, roasted red peppers, swiss cheese, tomato ketchup, and mayo.
I LOVED this. It was so fucking good. It's such a handsome burger that I would turn and marry it or at least have a dirty weekend with it. The Jalapenos were not really that hot but added a really nice heat and juicy acidity to the burger. The two melting cheese mixing with the hot peppers, ham, roasted pepper and sauces was just out of this world. Delish! Delish! I want another one!!! original
I had to do a lot of subs for this one.
Instead of capicola I used prosciutto. Capicola is basically like prosciutto which is what I used. capicola is the same kind of thing but the meat comes from the neck of the animal.
Peperoncini is basically roasted peppers. I used red roasted ones in mine.
Surprisingly I found havarti cheese despite never having heard of it. I couldn't find provolone though so after researching several websites I settled on a Swiss cheese.
I put in a white background to improve the photo. As bremenatch says I really don't have time to spend on photos since I just wanna eat the fucker
I could set up a white box bounce some light on it and spend ages photographing but it's gonna get cold and I need some food lol But the brown was throwing off the white balance quite a bit so I put in a white background ( white paper FTW lol ) and yeah it looks better now.
Next week... look out belly... LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THAT THING

I sincerely hope not, but there's been no updates for a while.
Anyhoo, I'm planning on making some burgers tonight. Not to the levels of w_b's though, just some plain beef patties betwixt a bun with some salad and some cheese for those who like that.
Nearly time for a run to clear the arteries first! -

Registered 6 years agoI.AM.ALIVE!!!! No, Vortex808 my heart is still pumping but the crash team is prepped and ready to go, paddles on maximum charge lol Hope your burgers were good?!
I have just been... pfft, crazy busy. Things just kept coming up so havent been able to get any burger action for a couple of weeks! But now I am back with THE HIGHWAYMAN! No.12 of 30 ( getting close to half way point )

A 1/4 pound home made beef patty with 2 types of cheese: American and cheddar, bbq sauce, onion rings, slab of ham, all topped off with a fried egg inna bun.
Notes: The cheeeses called for were american brick so I just used Monteray Jack which is my go to standard american cheese. And cheddar cheese I used cheese slice since it what the "american cheddar" looks like in the shot. The original for reference. Unfortunately I couldn't include the ham because I got some ham but it looked minging. I think it would have ruined the burger so left it out.
Verdict? If the charge is damn tasty then this is guilty as charged! I think egg always works really well in burgers and it's not something you see all that much. The rich yolk mixed with the bbq sauce and melted cheese giving the burger and juicy rich quality. I thought the onion rings a bit of a waste. I think just fried onions work so much better in terms of taste/texture than onion rings - personal preference, but I'm not a fan. Still the burger was really lovely and I enjoyed the hell out of it!
PS: that pizza burger looks nasty... but I would still try it lol
Next up burger no.13, unlucky for some, it's the ROAD HOUSE

I'm now quite tempted to try a fried egg on one some time. The head says no, but it might work really well. If only I'd seen that earlier I'd have joined you in some cholesterol carnage! -
