New Little King’s Story is a Vita sequel to the Wii game.

    Official blurb:
King's Story continues the precursor's plot of a little King taking over control of his own kingdom and leading it to prosperity with help of his citizens. Thereby, the game combines classic RPG elements like character leveling with the gameplay of building-simulations and RTS titles. In order to improve the game's playability the single player mode utilizes the new device's design. The touch panels are used to create an intuitive interface, while the high resolution display improves the visual quality of the graphics.

The single player component is supplemented by a social part, where players can visit the kingdoms of their friends and play togehter in mini games like "Dance" or "Pinball".

    Release date:
There is a vague release date of 2012 for Europe. The Konami UK website says May 2012 but this is clearly a little off!

Is this rumoured as a DL only title in the US or is that another game? Hope it makes it to Europe as I missed out on the Wii version as it seemed like a time-sink, but on Vita that is less of an issue and i am definitely interested to see this.

@chrisno21 It is, mainly because the wording in an official statement was something along the lines of 'the game will be available to download in America this summer', rather than 'available to buy' or some such.

It was actually announced for Europe before the US, but then the US have at least had their release date narrowed down to summer whereas we don't even have that.

Like you say, it looks like a perfect time-sink for the Vita so I could live with it being a download only title as long as it is still released in Europe.

I think there were rumours that Ragnarok Odyssey was going to be download only as well, maybe? Anyway, thanks for posting the video! I'm clearly doing something wrong but I really can't get them to embed properly.

I got this, played a couple hours. Looks OK, seems fairly fun, but has a pretty bad framerate when almost anything at all happens. Still, there's time for a patch - everything on Vita is on hold while I get addicted to Persona 4 all over again.

@HiddenAway Oh, silly me. I saw the 'fall' and assumed it was for America. I should learn to pay attention. :D Thanks!

It now has a digital release date for America: 2nd October. Hopefully we'll get it around about then too, although there's no news yet. Fingers crossed, anyway.

Edit: Hmm, a few sites put a European release date as September 27 and the price as €39.99.

What was it that made you think it would be so cheap? I do hope it's not above £30 though.

For a digital only release, I would hope for a maximum price of £15 - £20. Think it would die as a full price release online taking into account it is a sequel to a Wii game on new hardware with a smallish user base.

@santashi it's basically a re hash of a wii game that one out about 4 or 5 years (don't think it's a sequal) that was bargain priced when first released and I was able to pick up for about £15 a few months later

I dunno I guess I am just being an idiot, it is a really good game and well worth £30 but I am just greedy

Ok I seem to be quite uneducated towards this I have just read it was a re imagining of little king story bit didnt realise it had a new story (effectively a sequal or re boot) apologies

I will prob wait til it hits £20 before buying though unless it gets really high scores, I just can't imagine it being v popular (as the wii version turned out quite niche and the vita install base is much smaller) and don't want to be burnt paying full price just for it to drop a little later

Just to clarify, it hasn't actually been confirmed yet that it's digital-only in the EU. Shopto is still holding on grimly to their product page in hope. ;)

@Afiddes Yep, it is definitely described as a sequel.

Like pretty much any game without a limited run, it will be most expensive at release and it will drop in price at some point in the future, so if you're not that fussed then it makes sense to wait until whenever that happens. :)

uhuh though in doing so i run the risk of it being as limited release and f*&king myself over :S im stumped and will wait for the reviews i think

i really dont want another TWEWY (which was bloody frustrating trying to find a copy only a few months after release)

@Afiddes I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's the Vita, so there will always be a digital version. :)

Yeah, waiting for reviews would probably be best, and maybe wait to see what other EG forum members think of it before taking the plunge.

@santashi very good point I do love the fact that all physicall releases are digital too I just wish they would have digital pre orders do you can buy and download a game then on release day you can use an unlock code to start it rather then having to wait until you get home

@Afiddes Yeah, I think they've done that for some PS3 games and the double pack for AC3, so maybe it's something they'll look into for normal Vita releases in the future... It would be nice to have an indication of price/filesize in advance anyway, to help people make up their minds.

Placed a ShopTo preorder ages ago and have just been charged, so it does appear that there is indeed a physical EU release. Must have used some loyalty points as credit when I ordered (was ages ago) as it's only costing me just under 15 quid.

I would of snapped this up if LBP wasn't out last week. It's silly really, didn't even know it was out this week - hope I can still find a copy in a month or so!

You had over £15 in credit? I'm impressed!

Still waiting to see what the PSN price is like. If it's something ridiculous like £40 I'll just go with Shopto but otherwise I'll probably download.

Played through to just afterfirst boss battle, seems more focused than the Wii version. Enjoyable light strategy RPG which is what I expected

I love it! It came this afternoon and I'm having great fun so far.

Just got a minion hospitalised (without a hospital) by accident (annoyed a rather large snail) and felt rather guilty about it. I've now had to make a restitution payment (presumably to his family). I rather like that.
