    Guys?

... can we talk about the new Surface now please?

359 for the Surface 2 is not bad, hey?
Why would you buy one when you could get an iPad or an android tab? Even at that price it has literally no redeeming features.

ironically, a Pro tablet of anything like a decent spec is getting on for the apple levels of pricing you have been whining about.

Why get a Pro tablet when you can get some shitty chinese lump of plastic with the same specs for the price of a big mac?

    @nickthegun

I edited my previous post, which is sitting right at the bottom of the page prior to this one!

... I was too slow, as usual.

I actually cannot believe the screen is a 16:9 ratio, again! It should either be 4:3 or 16:10 for something like Surface.

I think there is a market for these new ones however, I would still rather have an iPad to be honest, less 'functionality' or not.

I would love to watch Sky Go on a Surface RT or Surface 2 but you what, Silverlight isn't supported and Sky Go uses it on the website, there is no app either. Fantastic.

This moron guy is a bit of a silly isn't he.

My macbook pro does a sky high dump on your fucking dell. Christ.

Anyway, I think the rt is a great device and price is reasonable for what you get. The problem is that it has an uphill struggle so it has to be better than reasonable if it wants to find a place in this market - or indeed create it's own market.

Obviosly, because iPad is like atom Win tablet. It is not comparable with i5, like at all

You can run latest 3DS Max on surface, no problems
What has that got to do with anything?

No apps, only mobile trash for 99 cents, that is why

If you want to play some games on your tablet, Win 8 and gog.com are the only answer
Im talking about the RT. You know, the part you cut out to make your ridiculous point.

I'd love a Pro. But I'm not paying for it.

MS Office is actually really nice. OpenOffice (and LibreOffice) are very poor in comparison.

Who cares? Wifi hotspot on phone. Why take two 3g contracts with you in to the world when you can just take one?

Because at work we currently have 3G dongles for our laptops, it'd be nice if I can just put the sim in the surface and be done with it.

After looking at the pricing, I can't help but think these are going to flop hard yet again.

They really haven't learnt anything have they. I've picked up a decent window 8 touchscreen laptop for 350 and I don't really see the incentive to pick up a new Surface for 359 over the older model for 280.

I'm actually a fan of windows 8, as a causal user it's a joy to use. But again I can't see these doing much better than last time.

Yeah MS need to get those Sky apps on A.S.A.P. Thought MS and Sky had a bromance going on?

I actually hope the original Surface Pro will suddenly drop in price to around about 400-500.

... I wouldn't mind paying this kind of money for that, a year old or not.

Be nice to ditch my wheezing old computer for once and for all!

    : )

    10 for a Three, 3gb, 3 month data sim.

Tethering is handy for any data heavy stuff like streaming (assuming you're unlimited), but it's a ball ache if you use a tablet a lot on the go as I do. Spontaneous browsing is soooo much better with 3G/LTE built in, and 3gb/3 months is plenty for purely browsing. Not to mention how tethering absolutely rapes your phone battery.

Anyway, MS said LTE is indeed coming later.

Thinking of chucking my 3G 3 sim. It's next to useless on the train to and from work.

    Might try Vodafone.

That's the thing with Three. I absolutely swear by it, but I know people who get No Service all over the place. I do wonder what effect their sub LTE (or UltraFast as they call it) will have in December.

It's fine when I'm sitting in one place but the moment you start moving it craps out totally. I barely get any service between Waterloo and Twickenham. Well I say no service, I often have full bar but no actual internet during the journey

My GiffGaff phone is slow at the same places but at least it works.

Wonder if any Surface RT users can answer a couple of quick questions please? We're getting one this Xmas now they're relatively cheap but I just want to know if they're worth it for some of the stuff we wanna do.

How good are they for viewing and tagging photos from a portable drive? We backup all our pics onto an HD and my wife wants to go thru and tag them them to organise them properly. Are there apps that'll do this?

Also the lack of apps for things such as iPlayer - is it okay just using IE?

Finally, how is Office to use?

Cheers in advance! And please no one bother suggesting I buy an iPad instead ;-)
