Any Wii games worth revisiting via emulator? I tried Xenoblade but to be honest it's a bit sugar sweet for my tastes. Aside from that I'm struggling to find games that aren't either remakes or awful looking.

Ever play Toy Commander MP? One of the best MPs ever, imo.

The kitchen had the best map, from what I remember.

A lot of PS1 stuff looks horrific now - especially when played on a big screen. If possible it's well worth playing them on the PSP, the small screen helps a lot!

    Latest purchase :

...and yes, it does come with the original, awesome control pad.

Picked up Battlefront II, Halo 1+2, Timesplitters, Counter-Strike, KOTOR and Psychonauts to go with it.

Set the Xbox up last night and tried the games that have arrived so far :

    - Burnout
    - GTA San Andreas
    - Timesplitters : Future Perfect
    - Counter-Strike
    - Enter the Matrix

Very impressed by all of them!. Running the 360 through an AV cable instead of a SCART and the games have held up surprisingly well. Especially Enter the Matrix, which i was struggling to tell if it was running at 60fps!

Classic Burnout was awesome, it was strange how the original game seemed to focus on the actual racing though!. Counter-Strike brought a lot of memories back and got me thinking how good Valves upcoming HD remake could be. Timesplitters - wow, amazing. I really hope somebody revisits this series one day.

Got a few more games on the way, looking forward to it......

I rarely play anything beyond the last generation simply because the vast majority of this generation of games are complete dog shit along with all the nickel and dime bollocks that comes with it.

I've clicked 'follow' on this thread, as I've been doing loads of this recently.

I have a post from one of the groups that I share if I remember later on when I'm not busy.

My advice for now, is - use a nice big cheap CRT telly, and RGB SCART cables with your old consoles. The Saturn, Megadrive, etc look beautiful through RGB SCART on a CRT.

I've had my Multimega / 32X and Saturn out recently, and I'm still looking to grab some classics.

    I'll prob be back later...

I've got one of those as well but rarely play it. Not because it sucks, it doesn't, but because it's such a rare piece of hardware. Wouldn't want to break it or anything :)

We've had to move house temporarily while we get kitchen sorted etc, so I've taken my battered 26" lcd tv to the new place.

But it's made me think - there's the telly in the new house with *no* consoles attached to it! Blasphemy. So instead of dragging all the new stuff over (we're only here for 6 weeks), I was thinking of having a retro session in the new house as it's going to be far easier to shift, say, a GC over. Or the DC! Wacky races, here we come!

So I could play the following -

    DC -
    Wacky races
Ecco the dolphin: Dotf (stop laughing)
    Shenmue
    Suzuki alstare racing
Alone in the dark: new nightmare

    GC -
Eternal Darkness! (I think it's definitely going to be this)
    Resi evil various
    Super metroid

Or I could bring the snes and have mario/dk/Street fighter 2 buffoonery!

It's no laughing matter, DotF is one of the very few games that I've never been able to beat...

Basically, you cant go wrong with any of those!.

Having recently started Shenmue again myself (about 10 years after i last played it) i had completely forgotten just how HUGE that game is.

Eternal Darkness is also a really good shout, as is Super Metroid.

Like i said though, basically you cant lose whatever you pick.

    @Ultrasoundwave - that's what I was thinking :-)

I've played wacky races to death, but it's still awesome
I didn't even get out of the first town in shenmue :-) Loved the first bar fight I was in though, awesome fun
Suzuki alstare is hilariously fast but I think I got as far as was ever going to get
Alone in the dark I've completed once as Ed, need to do it again with celine

Still haven't finished eternal darkness. Get stuck at the same place everytime!
And yeah, metroid is always fun, but I've got the trilogy on the wii and half way through the first one, so probably won't start that again

dk country could be a laugh too

Speed Demons (I believe it was called?) is also a great racer for the DC. Fictional cars, from what I remember, but still a lot of fun.

Sorry, wrong game. It's Speed Devils, not demons!

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_Devils

You're racing and there are natural disasters happening within the race. One has a tornado, another an avalanche, etc. Sounds stupid, but it was one of my faves for the DC.

Was one of my favourite sets of retro games. For a few years I played allstars when autumn hit, esp Lost Levels.
Also completed all the NES megaman games a few years back.

Since starting my game collection, ive managed to assemble the following :

    Dreamcast

    Games:
    - Jet set Radio (new)
    - Starlancer
    - Toy Commander
    - Crazy Taxi
    - Shenmue 1+2
    - Metropolis Street Racer

    Hardware:
    - 1 new control pad
    - 2 new VMUs
    - 2 new Vibration packs

    Playstation

    Games:
    - Metal Gear Solid
    - Gran Turismo
    - Grand Theft Auto
    - Grand Theft Auto 2

    Hardware:
    - Console

    Xbox

    Games:
    - Half Life 2
    - Manhunt
    - Halo
    - Halo 2
    - Star Wars Battlefront II
    - Star Wars Republic Commando
    - Star Wars Knight of the old Republic
    - Enter the Matrix
    - Counter Strike
    - Burnout
    - James Bond 007 Everything or Nothing
    - Timesplitters Future Perfect
    - Doom 3
    - Psychonauts
    - Grand Theft Auto San Andreas

    Hardware:
    - Console

Its been hard going but thats what ive managed to assemble so far and, to be honest, ive managed to do it without spending as much money as you'd think. The most expensive purchase was Shenmue II (45).

Got my next conquest lined up too :

The console itself seems quite cheap to get these days, however the games........fuck me, VERY much appreciating in value!. If anyone here is short of a few quid and you've got some GameCube games stored away, you could make some serious bucks!

@Ultrasoundwave - You're right. Some games are going for 25-50. Might have to dig out donkey konga 1 & 2 with bongo's.

Can't get rid of Eternal darkness though, it's just too good.

Reminds me - must get a GC controller extension lead!

My PS2 RPG collection that I've compiled so far consists of:

    Final Fantasy X
    Final Fantasy X-2
    Final Fantasy 12
    Valkyrie Profile 2
    Grandia 2
Shadow Hearts: From The New World
    Rogue Galaxy
    Xenosaga Episode II
Dragon Quest: Journey of the Cursed King
    Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter
Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga

Any others worthy of noting that I should grab? I know there's a couple more SMT games to get, and I think I remember Steamboy getting quite a bit of praise.

    @darkmorgado

Depends if you have/want them on PSP or Vita but Persona 3 and 4 are great but have expanded versions on PSP and on the way to Vita. However Persona 3 on PS2 has the great Anime cutscenes that aren't on the PSP.

Devil Summoner is a off shoot of the Persona Series and is well worth looking into.

Summoner 2 was a good Action RPG as well as Kings Field The Ancient City but good luck finding a copy of it.
