    New vid.

Loved DS1 thought 2 was OK but hard to raise much excitement to be honest. Looks good but just more of the same and with the new stuff being Co-Op and Gears Of War manshoot being a disappointing utter turn off for me there is little to raise my pulse in the third game really, got kinda bored watching the vid. One too many sequels I think, one for the "Meh, I'll get to it eventually...maybe" pile.

I love the part about "really getting to see what necromorphs do with mummified flesh". Yeah, they're um, thinner.

Yeah, I was quite annoyed to see 'TO BE CONTINUED' at the end of ds2. I want to see how the story ends but I could live without a third.

I've been really dissapointed with what's been shown of DS3 so far. The new video is a little better but I still worry about how it will end up. I don't really care about the co-op so much as the single-player doesn't seem to have been affected too much, what i'm most concerned with is the universal ammo.

I'll see how it goes but, as a big fan of DS1 and 2, i'll probably wait for it to go much cheaper before buying it.

Can't decide. Some of the trailer I really like the look of, especially the bits out in space, moonwalking. Other bits just look the same. But I do like all the 'alone in space' horror games. Probably get it on steam

Must admit though, I'm finishing off ds2 at the moment, and it is starting to feel a little 'chorey'

Had a go today at the demo from E3 (the EVA suit bit). It's impossible to judge from it, really, but it was pretty great.

So do I. Which is why the idea of co-op in Dead Space 3 is very unappealing.

Yeah, but watching the trailers they've really gone out of their way to stop it intruding on the SP experience.

    @King_Edward

A good point.I hope they don't have a huge difficulty spike in the late half of the game like 2 did.

Wonder if they'll have segments altered for single and co-op. Still looking forward to it.

According to the splash screen I got today, co-op mode has no griefing, bar damage from explosives.

    Hmm

    Oh dear.
I do not like the sound of the waves of enemies one bit. At least they are trying variety with the co-op though. Hopefully the single player campaign can come closer to Dead Space 1 over Dead Space 2.

Yet how come according to the preview you can dismember necromorphs but not the human cultists.

It speaks volumes that I couldn't even be bothered to sign up for the early access to the demo.

Loved the first game so much. The second one went a bit wonky. This one.... what have they done? It's been EAed.

Just finished playing the demo and, overall I liked it. Some of the things i'm still not to keen on (firefights with other humans and, more so, universal ammo) but some of the other things seem really good, the weapon crafting in particular seems like a great idea. The demo has taken me from waiting to see reviews and user feedback to wanting it but i'll still try to wait.

But seriously, what is with the universal ammo? I imagine they did it so they could have the weapon crafting but why not have different types of ammo depending on the "handle" of the gun? So have military, tesla, etc ammo packs rather than one-size fits all. It would really help bring ammo conservation back.

@MatMan562 From a video I saw universal ammo seems to be an ammo type that replenishes ammo for both of your ducktaped together weapons. I still saw your general pistol ammo, rifle ammo etc. Seems to be a common misconception out there.

DS lost its way - thematically - between one and two but both games were still fun to play and contained some great set pieces. While one was objectively more scary, because your options were limited, two had some pretty nice moments itself - mostly the result of better looking environments more than actual scares but they still worked.

Aside from looking a little bit Lost Planet I still think D3 will be a really good game. Not the sequel we wanted, perhaps, but probably the one we deserve for buying seventeen version of very similiar Gears of War, COD and BF. You canít blame developers for picking up popular tropes and themes.

You can't blame them for picking up on modern trends, I suppose, but what they had was pretty unique. Making it 'more like everything else' is pretty disappointing, especially when those other games do that kind of thing so much better.

Anyway, the most important question - can you still play the entire game with just the plasma cutter? And can you still rotate it to cut horizontally or vertically?

@DeCoR Based on the demo, that's not the case. All I had in my inventory was a ton of "ammo clips" and I could use my Plasma Cutter, the other gun you start with and the one I made with an assault rifle on-top and a Line-Gun esque thing on the bottom.

It would appear that you could play through the entire game with it and it definately does rotate. Plus, with the crafting table you could make your own Plasma Cutter gun with a Line-Gun attachment underneath.

It doesn't seem like it's going to be massively scary but it still felt tense. I think a large part of the loss of horror comes from the amount of ammo you have. In the demo I never even came close to running out of ammo but hopefully that will be different in the full game/ on higher difficulties.

@Scurrminator Yeah, it does. You can search for a game or create your own private one. As far as i'm aware it's online only though.
