So judgement is set around emergence day or just after yes?
So why do the characters all know about the locust and all the types of them and how come paluk? Has experience battling the general??

I can only assume they have completely changed the lore is emergence day originally was this big surprise that guess what you have monsters living underground.

Also in 3 was it suggesting the human government knew about the locust before e day and had been working with them? And the queen looks human....???

    Any gears boffins here?

I think... Judgment was set just after E-Day when it was a big surprise. I don't remember many of the characters knowing that much about them really. There's also the fact that the Retro Lancer was originally the Lancer before the Mk II (or the chainsaw lancer) so in theory, that shouldn't have been included in Judgment either but Rod and Cliff (before they left) said that at the end of the day it came down to fun. In terms of canon, it's pretty difficult to make a sequel like that so you have to take it with a chunk of salt. For example, why are there no Ragers in Gears 1,2,3?

The whole thing with the Locust is that Marcus' Dad and the locust Queen, who is a human, did know about the Locust. They also knew about the Lambent and this is what forced them to the surface. Fenix Snr couldn't come up with a cure for the lambency and so the Queen had no choice but to make the Locust come to the surface (E-Day) in order to get rid of the humans and continue living. (At the end of Gears 1, you hear the Queen saying something like - "They don't know why we came here or why we will continue to fight" - Answer: Lambent.)

Pretty soon after E-Day, the COG (Prescott) torched the planet with the HOD as a last stand against the Locust and I think that's why Paduk is saying that the COG's weapon burnt his face. It must have been between E-Day and the HOD strikes that he met Karn.

As I said, I think that's how at least some of the canon fits.

His scars are from light mass bombs and he had battled the general and lost his battalion. None of that makes sense as he also choose to fight in the cog army to defeat the locust but they have only just emerged? Plus in the streets there are the party floats etc celebrating cog victory in the pendulum wars?

So the pendulum wars ended, the other army already battled the locust, paduk joins cog squad and e day all in 24 hours?
  • Deleted user 30 April 2013 15:18:33
I think Super Mario World made more sense than Gears.

I sort of assumed Paduk's lot were lightmass-bombed to end the pendulum wars. Hence the floats etc.

However, I also thought the pendulum wars were supposed to have happened quite a while before E-day, so it really doesn't make sense, but then I have not really paid that much attention.

As far as I recall the retro lancer was apparently a pendulum war relic.

I think you are getting me confused with Spank or Trout, they are the Gears masters...
Now ask me about the action figures ( they are not dolls;-) ) and I can help you.

I know that e-day was in the aftermath of the pendulum wars, literally as people were still putting the pieces back together, that's why e-day was even more crippling. I guess that explains the victory parade. I never considered the timeline of between that and when Paduk was supposed to have signed up.

Simpson's £15 each, some were a lot more. I have a 3ft Dracula Burns for example and BNIB nuclear Homer.

All others prices from £10 - £30 approx, worth more now.

If he started shooting the retro cancer like that, he's likely to knife himself in the face.

Not too bad. Especially if a few would get you a healthy return

I have around 75 firgures etc that would be worth £100-£150 each to the right person. The whole collection cost many, many hundreds of pounds, but I started collecting in 1990, and up until around 2005 I bought almost everything I could get my hands on.
The idea is to put a lot of them on display in the "games/man room*" at the moment 99% of the whole collection is in the loft!

*the frontroom of my house, I share it with 3 guitars, 3 consoles (1 being a Gears 3 ltd edition of course), a Minidisc stereo ( old school ;) ) some Gears action figures...and our dogs.

Yeah so four player co op on judgement isn't as good as I had imagined. You having fun enjoying the battle then...game over someone has died...this seems to happen a lot too, you can't choose who you play with.

I also discovered my first two amazing survival games were lucky as in I was teamed with good people. Ever since then everyone seems to be Cole or everyone Baird! You need the balance people.

Finally competitive mp is fun but a couple steps back from 3.

There is an achievement where you have to do 10 waves on hardcore as a team of Cole only. The best balance is 2 Bairds and 2 Cole's; one on each side, a Paduk to dubuff in the early stages and Sofia to revive in the latter stages.

Tried insane on my own again. Got up to wave 6 so an improvement of 2 waves. It's doable but the Locust are so accurate.

Campaign, on insane anyway, is best played solo. The AI can't die and occasionally will go a mad spree of killing everything in sight, especially Paduk. The more humans you have the harder it is. BFG and I managed to 'complete' it in co-op but it was crazy tough.

I prefer the style of MP in Judgment. No active reloads means more skill is required. I just wish they kept the Lancer buffed as the Gnasher is too powerful and more maps are needed!
