WE NEED INTEL!! - Go Paduk.

Someone else can be Baird as I have the fortification onyx.

No matter how many I hear 'I've got a Rager', it still makes me chuckle.

@L_Franko - Insane is a challenge, especially if you do the declassify missions.

I'm probably not going to touch Insane as I don't want to spoil my enjoyment of the games. Hardcore is perfect for me.

I definitely think that Baird is more important than Sofia considering the short respawn times and that turret slices through serapedes. Having three of them on rotation would be a huge help!

I'm taking the achievement gathering slowly as it'll keep things fresher for longer.

    WE NEED EXTRA EYES!!

@barbour99 Dunno, 10 seconds is quite a long time to be out when a corpser is smashing away at the generator.

Sophia can be really useful, even more so teamed with a Cole to keep her sawn-off ammo topped up nicely!

Yep, that sawn-off certainly anhilates corpsers if you can get round the back of 'em. That was something I definitely noticed last night.

I also think on hardcore etc if a couple of people are out at a tough time Sofia would be a big help in healing folk to keep them on their feet and resurrection duties too.

Not so much a help when everyone is getting gibbed by grenadiers, maulers, boomers or tickers mind. More than a plaster or two is required then....

I've completed three of the maps on Hardcore Survival, some of them multiple times, each time with randoms. The only one I've yet to complete is Skyline, which is probably the hardest due to the lack of space available.

The best setup in my opinion would be to have at least 2x Baird (possibly 3, as sometimes one side will need help with repairs) at least one Cole for ammo, and the other can be anything you like really.

The most important strategy is to pick a side, and stick to it! Playing with randoms is often horribly frustrating, as they randomly all run about the map like headless chickens, having 4 people on one side which leaves the other side completely open. Every time I've completed Survival, the team had 2 guys on one side and 3 on the other throughout the match, with a 3rd person perhaps helping out the 2 if it's needed.

Also, spotting is really important. Not with a Scout, but just by having someone on each side pointing out the threats with a click of the left stick. Mauler's are probably your biggest threat, as they can block so much with their shield, do tonnes of damage, and can get healed. So whenever I spot one I always try to get its attention so that teammates (or my turret) can shoot it in the back before it reaches the barriers.

If you want an easy map to finish on Hardcore to start I'd suggest Estate, as the 2nd hole has 2 Troikas, which is helpful, and at the generator all the enemies have to be funneled through one space, creating a nice shooting gallery for turrets.

I'm really starting to enjoy MP even TDM, which I hated in 3. I think I like it better because they've taken away the pressure element of the spawn count.

Is there a technique to killing berserkers? Them f*ckers do NOT die! Do they have a weak spot?

    Fire. Scorcher is your friend.

    BURN THEM!

Seriously, in anything other than Gears 1, you need to grab a scorcher and burn them so that you can do damage.

Use a scorcher to turn the Beserker a different colour (like something on a BBQ) and shoot them When they are that colour. Much easier to kill with two people.

I preferred the "waste ammo and run away" method from Gears 1.

Once you have burned a big beserker beasty enough your reticule should turn red when aiming at it to let you know it is suseptible to damage.
  • Deleted user 5 April 2013 10:20:39
    Fire you say? ;)

    Ahaaaaa.....

    Thank you men!!

Will try that approach tonight rather than throwing my shoe at the big bugger and run like f*ck in the opposite direction! :)

As I said, that's (almost) literally what you do in Gears 1.

That was one of my favourite bits when you encountered that for the first time. I nearly soiled myself.

A big ugly brute you could only take down with the hammer of dawn. Far easier on Insane than Raam was too!

The first time you encounter the Berserker in Gears 1 is one of my favourite gaming moments. You had very little information about what to do and panic set in very easily, it was great :)
I'd say that Gears 1 has the strongest single player overall but there is very little in it between the four.

I played thru G1, yet again, about a week before GJ launch and that moment when she crashed through the wall still made my jump. Awesome moment!

That exact moment was the first time I ever played a 360 game.

A friend had a copy and set me up to play the level with no knowledge of what was to come. :)

Agreed that it is a great moment. and quickly followed by the second time that it smashes through the wall *just* as you think you've got some breathing space.

G1 and G2 had brilliant single player campaigns, I really couldn't separate them for quality. G3 was a step down though.

LB, you really are a massive geek.

Cheers for the few games. Apologies for bailing, but it looks like my mic has absolutely had it now. Guess I will have to buy a new one before the next gen after all!

May try a tritton since these turtle beach x3's have been dodgy for a fair while now.

    Grr.

Yeah, my turtle Beach sometimes have cut out sound. When you get your new ones Vortex, let me know how they are.

The RT on my joypad sometimes sticks so I don't get rapid fire sometimes.

Might be on late tomorrow. Going to watch Saracens at Twickenham.

Really enjoyed that. Even though I'm more of a survival fan, TDM is good fun. Don't intend on playing FFA as I'll be carp at that. Needs more maps pronto!

Yeah, I won't make it on tonight.

Rugby + Villa win + copious amounts of Guinness = A drunk Jono!

    Hope to be on tomorrow!

I should be up for some Gears fun tomorrow night.
Started playing Army of Two III yesterday, very average, but the shooting is handled well.

Struggling to get into judgment it really feels.like a gears 3 dlc. Very poor content wise and the maps are pretty boring

Anyone know what player numbers gears 3 have for horde or tdm etc

I miss horde (unfortunately I broke the disc so i can't check myself)
