Ooo! Cool. A sequel could be really right good, if they take all the fun silliness of the first and make it less repetitive.

If that's microsofts big reveal, I'm in. Can you imagine a proper open world Alan wake like originally imagined?

I'll be very keen, despite the flaws of the first one it's one of my have games this gen, I loved the visuals and atmosphere but didn't like the way the story went in the end.

Yep, probably my favourite MS exclusive of this gen. Very good news, wasn't sure it'd happen given the mixed reaction to the first.

Well the original was one of the most atmospheric games ever made.

Take the concepts deadly premonition was using and put them into AW2. You already have the atmosphere. Instant 10/10
    YES!

Alan Wake's graphics (doable, as the open world town was technically already there in AW1) and combat, allied to the characters, storytelling, and game structure of Deadly Premonition.

    Best game ever.

Well? Any ideas as to what's happened? Because it sure wasn't there. Like the tournament stuff they've announced, or Summer of Arcade this year (which TBH is kinda shit).

    Cuntbags, no AW anytime soon

    Summary:
    - Next big game from Remedy is Quantum Break, not Alan Wake 2.
    - Understands this is a surprise and disappointment to some fans.
    - Tried to make a sequel happen after Alan Wake.
    - Require the right partners and funding. Wish to just make "cool stuff" and not worry about money, but that's not reality.
    - Alan Wake was not a huge hit on day one. Has done well since then, a "cult classic".
    - Franchise has moved more than 3 million copies.
    - Due to not moving a lot of units straight away, they couldn't get a sequel off the ground.
    - Figured they could have gone and made something Alan Wake related, but it would have been less ambitious and would not have done justice to the original.
    - Quantum Break a new IP, bigger than anything they've created before. Learned from Max Payne and Alan Wake.
    - "The ultimate Remedy experience."
    - Want to make more Alan Wake, but need to make sure the time is right.

    Humble Alan Wake Bundle announced.
    - One week. Alan Wake Collector's Edition + Alan Wake: American Nightmare for whatever you want to pay.
    - Exclusive video, behind the scene content, screenplays, etc.

Well maybe if this whole TV series/game malarkey works, then maybe they'll do the same with Alan Wake.

I imagine Mr Scratch presenting a Tales From the Crypt style series on TV, with Alan trapped in each episode in the game trying to find a way out.

That's a shame, I hope they can get around to a reboot at some point.

AW was one of the few games I can think of this gen that I sat and played in 1 sitting (DLC not included). It was a looooong dark night but so much better when the end credits were rolling and I felt as if I'd been through a proper story.

I'd buy a second installment in a heartbeat.

Fuck the Xbox One even more so then. One of the genuinely great games on the 360 and there won't be a sequel.

AT LEAST I CAN WATCH TV WITHOUT CHANGING THE CHANNEL EH? EH? THAT'S BETTER THAN GAMES, RIGHT?

    Fuck this shitty industry.

Wow, that's a really good deal. I don't even play PC games, but that's a great deal. I wonder what they'll offer as 'above the average' bonuses; maybe the soundtracks or something.

A video about why there's no sequel (but might be one day)

A map is like comparing velocity and speed.

  • Deleted user 22 May 2013 20:21:29
There won't be a sequel. Quantum Dogshit will be a sci-fi shooter or some shite.

No one will care and Remedy will go bust because they don't have the rights to even make a Max Payne 4 cash-cow anymore.

If it means I won't have to invite Xbox On into my house, then it's a painful but adequate sacrifice.

What the hell has happened to the industry to render creating a sequel to a 3 million selling game as not financially viable?

It seems to be COD or bust.
  • Deleted user 23 May 2013 00:26:50
Great game but one of those that would benefit from resting on its cult status. The gameplay and story telling didn't hold up for the whole game, no mind a sequel. Probably for the best it isn't happening.

If people aren't queuing around the block on day one to buy your game then you won't get a sequel.

We need to start a Kickstarter to get Alan Wake 2 made rather than Quantum Whogivesashit.

I'm drunk as shit now but i would seriously consider contacting Remedy once sober to see if they'd put their stamp on a Kickstarter for a game that people actually want if only to show MS and publishers how little their ideas matter compared to what the actual fucking consumer wants.

The consumer wants military shooters and licenced football games.

    Clearly.
