We've got a street party tomorrow. The people organising it have posted A4 flyers with a queen's head on through the door to be coloured in and stuck in windows. We've done ours in a Joker style.

Thing is, I don't mind the street party idea, but I take issue with the massive amounts of money being spent on the celebrations while cuts in valuable services are happening all over.

4 day weekend is a definite bonus, but I couldn't care less about the reigning / raining.

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

Anarchist flag replaces Union Jack over Bank of Scotland

They must be pretty shit anarchists if they managed to decide on a flag.

This country has gone to the dogs “A Royal Wedding” “A Diamond Jubilee” “The Summer Olympics” and there is still no “Feel good factor.” Even a World War couldn’t pull this government out of the doldrums; I know there is a world recession, but events like this should be giving the country a “Buzz” I predict more anarchy in the summer months, prepare for gold in the rioting and looting events.

Royalists are a bit like religious people to me. That kind of stuff doesn't factor in my day to day life and it's nothing I care or think about, and I kind of forget other people do. Then when I come across someone who actually believes and cares about this kind of stuff I find a bit weird and disconcerting. Like talking to a mental person.

I think maybe you need to go and read up on the meaning of anarchy if you think that.

Congratulations on not being dead yet, ma'am.

It's fucking pathetic, the whole foul jamboree.

Germany (and presumably other places) have an optional church tax, couldn't we have an optional royal tax? that way those of us that don't see the point could opt out and would have little grounds to complain.

Or just get rid, much better have an elected president as head of state. The downside is you could end up with a president Blair, but on the plus side President Thatcher.

Even the French can manage better Royal coverage than this. Fucking BBC fistfuckers can, quite royally, do one with their Aneka Rice necromancy and endless yet fruitless search for a meaningful post for Fern Cotton.

    I honestly don't know that's happening here.

The commentary on the boats and ships maybe the best commentary on any event ever. It's just Alan Partridge quality. The boat/ship expert guy is buzzing. Bow boosters?
He said "bow thrusters". Its a device that gives a ship/boat more maneuverability. Basically a steerable engine at the front.

I actually did look up anarchy and it turned out that I didn't know what it meant so thanks Local!

@mowgli: Please have a go at being less angry about everything, I'm getting tired just thinking about being that angry.
@Rob: yeah mowgli made that point already ;)

I wandered down as its only twenty minutes walk. I saw a shit load of people and fuck all by the way of boats, except an absolutely fluke 5 second view of the barge when I was on the top deck of the bus.

People seemed quite happy which I guess makes it all worthwhile, absolutely huge proportion of tourists/johnny foreigner in the crowds.
