    http://thegamingliberty.com/index.php/2012/06/02/assassins-creed-3-liberation-coming-to-vita-with-female-protagonist/

Well well well. I've been hoping for a female protagonist for a console version, but here we have it on the Vita. Apparently launching alongside the console version.

    Sounds intruiging!

Black female protagonist - is this a first for any title?

The setting sounds cool as well, although AC3's setting excites me as well.

    Urban Chaos!

Was a pretty nifty open world-ish crime fighting game for it's time

The best bit about that article is that this game will have nothing to do with Desmond. Sounds like a cool game too. Looking forward to it.

Urban Chaos was great. It stood up to GTA 3 in many ways, although I tried playing it again on my cfw psp a couple if uears ago and it's not the same game you remember it to be.

they followed urban chaos with startopia, then blade 2, then they shut down. rocksteady then did the urban chaos sequel, and followed that with batman:AA

Kotaku posted impressions. Sounds awesome. ALLIGATORS.
A few other things I noticed about the game:

-Liberation has a dedicated jump button, the X button. The right trigger runs, but doesn't automatically jump at ledges—instead, you have to press X to jump. That's a big change from a series that typically hasn't had a real jump button.
-I watched a sequence similar to more recent console games' horse and buggy chase sequences; the demonstrator tapped the touch screen to increase the horses' speed and held his finger down to make them slow down. I'm unsold on how fun this would be, but then, I didn't like those sequences in the console games either.
-The game will have an economy like in the console games, though it will be different and "exclusive to the Vita," whatever that means.
-We have confirmation on the alligators in the bayou sections. There will be alligators. Alligators!
-The top devs did the requisite fact-finding trip to New Orleans, and a lot of the city's famous buildings are looking mighty nice.
-Aveline's animations are totally new, and use the same animation tools as Assassin's Creed III; Aveline has a lot of Connor's moves, including pulling up an enemy as a human shield when faced with gunmen.
-Aveline has a machete, which I didn't see used, and a blow-gun, which I did. While she was in one of the series' ubiquitous haystacks, she fired off a dart that poisoned one guard, luring another over to his location for a good neck-stabbing.
-The characters in the game are all based on real historical figures, with the exception of Aveline herself; she's an amalgamation. If a character in the game dies, they died in real life at the same time.

The more I hear and see of this game, the more excited I am for it. That video looks fab Syrette. Thanks for sharing!

Anyone know if those preorder bonuses are retailer exclusive? I'd stuck a preorder down at Zavvi since it was £30 there (might be elsewhere, just remember Shopto being pricey) and it's fairly easy to cancel closer to the date.

Just noticed the pre-order price is all over the place with this. I pre-ordered a few months back wirh ShopTo at £30.85 it is now £39.85 with them! Amazon are currently offering it at £34.99.

Ubisoft are the only place I can find offering a pre-order bonus "Mysteries of the Bayou Pack" http://shop.ubi.com/store/ubiemea/en_GB/pd/productID.252032100 at £34.99.

I'd consider switching, but I prefer a cheaper price to a pre-order bonus. Strange no-one else has any pre-order bonus!?

Didn't actually occur to me that there would be preorder bonuses, somehow. I preordered with Zavvi ages ago (£30) but they seem to have shot their price up too. Would the DLC cost more than a fiver anyway? (Genuine question as I've bought very little DLC and none of it was for the AC series.)

I dunno about this game I played it a little at the expo but didn't feel it grab me like ac2 or brotherhood maybe it was just the fact I wasn't sure what I was doing but it felt quite slow and not as smooth as I was expecting a real shame if it is the case

Doesn't it just? I'm really looking forward to it.

There was another, more story-focused trailer today that I was going to link to but it looks like Ubisoft have removed it from Youtube so I'm guessing it was either a mistake or unsanctioned. :p

I'm hoping reviews for this don't get lost in the AC3 review outburst that is sure to happen once the curfew is lifted. Please link any you find here. Thanks!

I think it was mentioned in the AC3 thread already, but apparently you get to play as Connor for a mission in Liberation if you have both the PS3 and Vita games. You also get items for use in the PS3 game but the mission sounds like the most interesting bonus.

Just seen an AC Vita advert on TV, now that's how you advertise a game and a machine.
    More please Sony.

I think the embargo lifts tomorrow so there should be reviews at some point on Monday. I can't see me not enjoying the game though.

Good to hear that they're advertising it.

Surprised you've just seen it, Ubisoft have gone mad with the marketing spend for this and AC3.

Will be renting this - it's just out at a terrible time when I've got more than enough games on my plate (Assassin's Creed 3, NFS Most Wanted and Halo 4 in the space of a week!) and am busy at work anyway. Can't justify buying this game especially as I'll probably play through it once and never again. Can't wait either way.
