So, any interest in this? Personally can't wait and have started playing a bit of vanilla VF5 to get back into the swing of things.

    When's it out?

Oh yes, definitely. Played a bit of FS in the arcades last year (stunning some salaryman when I said I hadn't touched the game at all since shortly after R came out!) and it is a lot of fun. It has changed a lot since vanilla ver.C, it's practically an entirely new game.

Yeah, can't wait. Also been plucking away at vanilla 5 (even if it's far removed from that title, i just need to get my VF hat on again, been playing 2D fighters almost exclusively).

Thought it'd never see the light of day to be honest, and kudos to Sega on the pricing too, it's shaping up to be bargain of the year!

I don't really think I can avoid this given the fantastic price.
I've never actually played a VF game before and don't really know why.

I guess this is a vs game only, no single player modes apart from practise?

Been looking forward to this for a long time. Its my favorite fighting game series. I'll have to wait a bit longer though as I'm going away for a couple of weeks on release day.

    @L_Franko

It can be a bit of a marmite game, but once it clicked with me, Tekken (which i still enjoy and will be getting TTT2 day 1) was relegated.

I think there's actually a sizeable single player in it. I've also heard there's a training mode - if it's as good as the one in VF4: Evo then you'll be brought right up to speed with the game mechanics.

I can't find my boxed copy of VF5, so I'll probably pick this up.

    I totally called it.

How's it so different to the "vanilla" (god I hate that fucking phrase) one? I thought they just added a few characters?

I think the sumo chap is back in, along with a new karateka. New balancing things and animations too.

    I haven't played VF5 regularly in years.

@Deckard1 New characters, new stages including non square ones and ones which change from round to round, new music, new announcer, rejigged move lists for everyone (I couldn't tell what a good Pai was doing and I played a LOT of VF5), new animations, redone evasions, stuns and throw escape mechanics and probably a bunch more stuff.

Oh ok thanks. Looks like a buy then. Even though I probably won't play as anyone but Lei-Fei again. He rocks my world.

I suck at fighting games and rarely play them. Can't resist some good ones though and thus looks good.

The world is going mad. Me? I'm doing fine.

So ridiculously excited. The more I think about it, the more I consider VF5 to be one of my favourite games of all time. So if you tell me that VF5:FS is an improved version of that, at that price? How could I resist?

The one thing I am disappointed with though is the lack of focus on the single player element. SEGA confirmed there would be no Quest mode, something which kept pulling me in for many reasons (the unlockables, the different ways that AI characters were customised). Seems like this one has Arcade mode and something called License mode, which are a series of challenges. The biggest focus will be online play, which is fine, but it shall be missed by me.

I really like the DLC pricing strategy as well. Just getting the game in itself is an impulse buy and the options are there for those like me that want to customise just their main character or who want it for all. In total, for the game and customisation pack for each character, it comes to like 30-35 which is the sort of price I would have paid for anyway. I think it's smart. Let's put it like this, would you rather pay 10 for the full game, with the option to buy DLC as you see fit, or pay full RRP for a game and have actual characters locked on the disc?

On single player modes, I'm not certain about this but I think "special sparring" mode may be the closest thing in it to a quest mode. But there hasn't been much info on it so far other then that you need all the DLC to be able to use that mode.

Edit: Actually just found some vids on it and its not much like quest mode other then you have AI characters with custom names to fight against in various categories.I guess since all costume parts are DLC, Quest mode wouldn't really have much point as there's nothing to earn anymore.

Well, they were still around to put Final Showdown together, but that was a good while ago now.

Shame this isn't retail. I loved VF4 Evo, even after having bought VF4 - in fact I've got a copy of all VF's released in the UK so far on console - this looks like being my first miss.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

    I'll be getting this on PS3 - Telminator-2

It's pretty much the only fighting series I really enjoy, even though I suck at it. Looking forward to getting my arse tanned online...

Well there's emblems but it wouldn't be enough. A pity.

SEGA held a pre-launch party for VF5:FS this month where attendees could play with 2 top VF players, Chibita and Fuudo. Looked like a cool place to be, wish I was there. There's also an exhibition match between the two players. Some good play in these fights, take a look at the audacity and foresight of Chibita at 13 mins in especially to see a really cool move.

Indeed. Sega just don`t have the resources anymore, even if they did decide to.

I'm only now finding out that Final Showdown is out for the 360 tomorrow as opposed to today. I'm back at work tomorrow. This is such bullshit.

Whhaaaat? I thought XBLA games always came out on Wednesday? Guess we'll see at 10am.

(Except for Fez, but I assumed that was because it was Fez!)

I've been hearing that over in the states they're doing a special deal on PSN where you get FS and all the DLC for $30, too.
