@Machetazo - my feeling (and this is purely my own unsubstantiated opinion) is that EA have told Criterion that they will be doing NFS from now on, as they need 2 studios doing alternating years. Black Box doing 5 games in 5 years clearly didn't work very well, hence the current arrangement, as Activision do with the COD series. Personally, I'd like to see a sequel to Burnout Paradise more than a new NFS, but a game from Criterion isn't going to be bad, whatever it's called.

@kosigan Everyone would love a Burnout Paradise sequel, I loved that game. I expect Activision are paying them a pair bit to do the NFS games, hopefully this will be far better than NFS: The Run.

I'd rather see them do a sequel to Burnout 2, to be honest. I think Paradise is the most boring game in the series.

Yeah, I wasn't actually a fan of the freeform openworld structure. I prefer a more traditionall menu-based structure when it comes to racing games.

Paradise wasn't a pure racing game, it was an open world driving game. It had lots of things to do, stunt runs, billboards, gates, road rules, freeburn challenges etc. racing was just one of them. That variety made it interesting for me, but I can see it putting off those who mainly want to race.

The online was also awesome on it with the free roam.

@freedumb - +1 to what you said. That, for me, is what makes it my favourite game of this generation. The information being drip-fed about NFS:MW leads me to believe it may have something similar. We'll see.

So it might have Kinect support...

I'd have to agree with that. Its the most fun I've had with any game this gen, I only got it last year and its already my favourite.

It seems this new game is a sort of paradise 2 but with NFS trimmings.

I'll be getting it on PC, that hasn't got Kinectability yet. Well I'll get it once I've dragged myself away from GW2.

Doubt it'll come to much tbh. Possibly head tracking or voice controls. I'll be picking this up on 360 hopefully along with the rest of the Burnout Paradise crew.

Ramping up the PR as we get closer to release.

    Over-edited trailer w/generic dubstep (and a Hummer!) here -

I don't think I understood anything that happened before the last 30 seconds of that trailer. It's been carefully designed to create feelings of psychic unease so strong that the viewer feels compelled to take refuge in the tranquil confines of his or her preferred games media merchant.

Chaps, stupid question but is this not the follow up to Hot Pursuit, for some reason I have been thinking it is ?

This new Most Wanted is made by Criterion, so in that respect it's the follow up to Hot Pursuit. However the name suggests it's also the follow up to the original Most Wanted, so probably more 'open world' than Hot Pursuit.

A car crash between paradise city and most wanted would be my description of this game. At this point I'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing.

I hear it's far more Paradise than any NFS title.

I don't know if I'm excited or not. The race itself, yes please. The takedowns.. undecided. The cop chase at the end, I can do without that.

Well, to be fair, the original Most Wanted was fairly Paradise-y.

Are any of your guys over there helping out on it like they did with Hot Pursuit, or can't you say?

Oh jesus this is going to be another damn leaderboard battle isn't it. Tricky, Starchild, Collymilad. And usually 4th place, GentlemanThug (ie me)

The only thing that will get me playing another NFS is if they get rid of the bloody awful AI rubber banding. Completely ruined Hot Pursuit for me.

Even though I pretty much ignored the leaderboards in Hot Pursuit I am really looking forward to some time battles in this.
