I absolutely despise Jack Daniels but this stuff is actually alright.

I love you and hate you in equal measure for posting this.

Bought a bottle on Friday, all gone by Sunday. Lovely, lovely stuff but impossible to drink in moderation.

Started off mixing it with ginger ale and ice (yum), then just knocking it back neat. I think the trick is not to have a bottle in the house at any point.

Bourbon is definitely better for mixing than scotch or irish or whatever imo. I very much enjoy a Black Manhattan when out poncing in the kinds of establishments where one buys such a thing.

Gah, a colleague who considers himself a 'friend' has now pointed me in the direction of Jim Beam Red Stag.

Bourbon infused with the following flavours:

    - Black Cherry
    - Honey Tea
    - Spiced Cinnamon

The first and last sound like the perfect Xmas mixers.

Strictly speaking, a manhattan should be made with rye whiskey rather than bourbon.

Hmm jack Daniels, lovely. Jack and Jamesons, two beautiful drinks for the winter. Oh and isle of jura.
    Adding a mixer is sacrilege.

Really like this stuff. So easy to knock back though.

If you're feeling particularly flush you could always try 2012's World Whiskey of the Year.

There needs to be a proper whiskey thread where no one discusses mixers.

Not sure if you are joking...

This was the thread that finally did it for BlizeH. He asked which brand of coke was best to add to Highland Park, and someone went to his house and actually murdered him, he was found with the empty bottle rammed up his arse.

I got a bottle of Makers Mark for my birthday this year. I mix it with an episode of Justified for the perfect combination.

    Lovely lovely stuff

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.
