Hi again people, been a minute. Just thought I'd remind you that the monthly tweetathons are still going strong, and we've had some encouraging little signs from Sony recently, so we're hoping to show Sony just how loved Shenmue is by making December's tweetathon the biggest yet and coming out in force. So please do join in and tweet #GiveYuTheShenmueLicense on the 3rd of Dec. You can preload your tweet here Team Yu Thunderclap Dec 3rd

It's now officially the third in the UK, and it's already clear (thanks to the thuderclap sign ups) that this will far and away be the biggest of our tweetathons yet.
@Dondiggler we are aiming to send a message to Sony with this tweetathon, so please, don't hesitate to add @playstation or whoever else might be relevant to your tweet, but just be sure to keep the hashtag the same as ever.

Hi all, been a while since I've updated you all! Can't believe it was over two years ago I started this thread.

Well, a lot has happened and since I last updated you, the biggest change being that we've changed the moto and hashtag of the campaign to the much more catchy and easy to remember #SaveShenmue but we're we're still tweeting like crazy every third of the month, and 2014 has seen the most massive tweetathons yet.

We have also finally got the proper TeamYu.net website and forum up and running. We've put a lot of work into it, and it's not just your average forum, it's a site that aims recreate as much of the Shenmue experience as possible. Earn virtual yen to feed the community kitten with milk from the Tomato Convenience Store, or seek out a winning can while building your capsule toy collection. And this is just the beginning! We also have a very convenient auto-tweet feature hooked up too. We're proud of what we've created so far, and it's only going to get better, so please have a gander over at Team Yu

Team Yu is pleased to announce that we are holding a contest for a voucher that will knock 20 off of the soon to be available to pre-order Insertcoin Ryo Hazuki replica jacket! What you have to do is make the Chawan sign and post a picture of it on twitter during the September 3rd tweetathon. The Chawan sign made in the most interesting location will win.

    Full details here

Everything Shenmue related just feels like kicking a guy already down into a coma.

I feel it would be more practical to direct efforts into saving Yakuza, there's at least a chance that games which already exist can be localised.

Yeah, but Yakuza is a mess of game with a really long winding meaningless story. Shenmue isn't going to happen regardless. Sega are in no position to throw money around and they seem hell bent on ignoring most of their games library.

What Yakuza games have you actually played?

Western release for Yakuza 5 to happen please. Or HD releases for Shenmue 1+2.

Yakuza is OK. It's plenty fun, but it's got absolutely nothing on Shenmue.

I think you guys are going about this wrong, the only way anyone is getting the rights is if Sega go bust and you buy it in the auction afterwards for 13.52 and a bag of M&Ms.

So instead of tweeting you should be working to sabotage Sega, it probably won't take much, it's honestly incredible that they're still in business.

    Commendable dedication to the cause.

    Never going to happen though.

    I forgive you.

How does tweeting once a month help raise enough money (and interest) to make a new Shenmue game? The only way it'll happen is if they put it on Kickstarter

Fans doing what SEGA should be doing

What's the bet even though they left it to die SEGA will still get their scum sucking lawyers to put a stop to this.

I hope not, it looks great. Is he actually doing the whole thing for PC or something?

We are trying to raise awareness about the series and to get as msny people on board with the campaign as possible, in an effort to either pressure Sega into finally taking action or to pique the interest of a potential investor.

Those HD remake videos are really gorgeous, and Sega should feel ashamed to have been beaten to it first by these guys.
