Looking forward to the new album :)

Yep, the Guildhall gig. Nope, I'm not a local - currently live in Suffolk.

The drummer is absolutely brilliant. Actually, calling him just a 'drummer' does him a disservice - he's plays quite a few instruments.

As for my favourite songs, there's just so many of them. Olsen Olsen live was worth the entry price alone; Ny Batteri is haunting and brilliant; Glosoli is an incredible gig opener and Meš Suš Ķ Eyrum was played as my wife walked down the aisle when we got married :')

Not got any Sigur Ros - not even sure if I've heard any, but I keep reading good things about them.

Where's a good place to start?

I think Agaetis byrjun is possible a good place to start. It was the first i had heard of them. Perhaps a few others too.

A good chance you will recognise them, a lot of programmes and broadcasters use them for advertising programmes, or documentaries use them in there soundtracks.

I'd personally recommend starting with Takk - most people recognise Hoppipola and you can work from there.

None of their stuff is easy to get into though; took me a good four or five listens to really start to like Takk. Once you do get into it, you'll never look back :)

Alot of that album was used for stuff for tv :)

this is the first track of AB, hooked me straight away, massive sound scapes in this album - the quality isn't that great but ...

Yeah Takk was the first album I listened to from them. That or Meš suš ķ eyrum blah blah blh would be the best place to start.

Svefn-G-Englar is an absolutely glorious tune - listen to it with good quality headphones and it really is special.

Yeah, I always think exactly that when I hear someone saying that they've never really heard Sigur Ros.

Heima is a good call actually, would be a great way to start getting into the band.

The newer live album Inni is really good too. The bluray sounds amazing.

Have been listening to von and Inni a lot lately. Cant wait for monday, the new album sounded amazing, especially as I was a little underwhelmed by the last 2 studio albums. No uptempo folk songs :)

Just listened to the opening three tracks on the new album and I already love it. Track 3 builds to a huge crescendo and just blew me away. If the rest of the album is shit, I'll still be happy with the purchase :)

I have the ( ) album and really struggled to get into it. Is this typical Sigur Ros or should I try another album?

    @Fonzie

Unfortunately, I think they've hit their peak. But if you didn't like ( ) I'm not sure if you will. They can be superb though!

    Try Takk.

I couldn't get into the new album at all, as much as I was hyped for it, I don't think it delivered.

I love ( ) it's the album that took me longest to apprieciate but its goddam good! I guess you can try other albums, but i think i agree with urban if you don't really like ( ) then i'm not sure you will get them.

There new album is ok. It has its moments, but its a bit flat. Sort of does sound like unused material. Varaou or whatever it is called is epic though. But nice to have them back :)
