Isn't there a photo function built in to the game?

Damn it. Purchased. Another XBLA bought in the last few weeks. Viva XBLA I say.

Never thought I would play a game where I take immense pleasure in finishing the wood flooring in my little hobbit hole. So much more homey now!

How large is the world they give you to muck about in? Also, can you have multiple worlds?

So a little update on my progress. I have now moved my bedroom to the third floor of my cliff castle. Zombies still seem to spawn on my balcony but cannot seem to open the door.
Light placement affects spawning. Place torches out on your balcony or near any place you're getting creatures spawning and you're sorted

Crikey, all I've done is dig a hole in the ground to serve as my home and fill it with basic equipment (bed, furnace, storage etc). I found what looked like the makings of a mine. So off I went armed with pickaxe and porkchop.

3 hours later I managed to get killed by a cave-in, nearly drowned from sea water getting into my mine and found a bucket load of gold ore. I seem to have dug a long way partially under the sea it would appear from the map.

Got so much stuff in my storage that I need to now concentrate on making Chez Lungs. All I need now is to find a suitable place for my base...

    Excellent fun!

When you find your first diamond ore you'll be on a mad quest for more of the shiny stuff.

What's this got that the desktop version doesn't?

Wondering if it's best to use my gold for pickaxes and the like rather than armour at the mo. Decisions, decisions...!

It's more the other way around to be honest, but, it's at a scope to fit with XBLA so it works on its own i'm very sure.

Noo!! If it's anything like the PC game gold armour and pickaxes are terrible (soft metal) and break instantly. Gold isn't actually very useful.

You want diamond for that...diamond pickaxe will last forever and lets you mine Obsidion...

I always wished I could make obsidian tools.

Damn you all! I played the demo of this last night and talked my way out of buying it a second time. And now I keep coming in here and suddenly I'm thinking about it again!

Edit: Actually, while we're talking obsidian - are Nether portals in this version? Super useful, they are. And dangerous, of course. Really, really fucking dangerous.

Regarding Auto-Save, it only saves your profile data such as leaderboard stats, not your world or inventory.

You need to manually save to save your world.

Just figured out that the few hours I spent so far class as Tutorial mode if I load the game up again (I just carried on after the tutorial).

Presumably I want to start a new game in the 'normal' world? I've got no qualms about doing that but I'd rather do it sooner rather than later.

    They are yes :)

I went into the Nether with a full set of diamond armour and sword, and got annihilated, and lost absolutely everything :(

Everytime I went back I just got swarmed again.

Blerk this version is just 1.6.6 of the PC one, so it's got everything up to that.

When you dig a block of soil is there anyway to return it to its greeny grass state ?

If you place a soil block next to a grass block then after a while the grass will regrow on it.

Loving this. Have built my first house into the side of a cliff. However, I hear nasty things under the floorboards at night. Fairly certain there is a cave underneath but I'm too scared to look!

If I set this to live rather than private does it open it up to randoms or just people on my friends list?

It's an important thing to remember when setting up areas because iirc you can only grow trees on grass blocks, not on bare soil blocks.

After trying Minecraft on PC a couple of times and not "getting it" (though I always admitted it was a good game, just not one for me) I couldn't have cared less about this release yesterday.

However, after reading the EG review and seeing a few videos that all made it look good I decided to give the trial a go. Having just done that I am eager to buy the full game. I think my sudden change in feelings towards the game is largely down to the tutorial and thinking of it as more of a survival/ adventure style game rather than a digital lego set. Even though "all" I did was build myself a tiny little hut I really enjoyed playing the game and was already planning extensions to it when the trial ended.

I'm going to try and wait for awhile as I don't have a whole bunch of excess money but as soon as I do, I shall begin my quest of building a giant castle/ fort/ lair.
