    @LB:
    That's just the point, lava source blocks stay where they are, so only lava flow will hit the water...And lava flow with water makes regular cobblestone...

    Just realised that that would make cobblestone an infinite resource too...I might study how to make an automated contraption that mixes water with lava flow and then pushes out the cobblestone...

    Ah, I've figured out where I've gone wrong - you'd have to fall through lava for my trap to work, clearly that's lunacy.

    Yep, cobblestone is an infinite resource, although dressed stone isn't (because of the coal). Makes sandstone structures more valuable as well, for the same reason (plus they look lush).

    Dressed stone too seeing that trees are infinite...
    2 saplings can convert a single block too...

    So we have infinite wool, cobblestone, stone, wood and planks...

    But hang on...What if you have a piston remove a block underneath a lava source block? Does it act like water and the source block remains hovering or does it drop?

    Lava source blocks hover, the lava falls as a waterfall though. So, cobblestone.

    Good point on the dressed stone thing.

    In my newest world, I have an area 3 above bedrock and get some slimes but so far none have dropped slimeballs when attacked.

    Stick some cobblestone in a furnace, you get smooth stone back which makes your castle look all Rivendell instead of caveman.

    @DDB:
    Stone basically :)

    The stuff you get when you cook cobblestone...It's nicer to the eye I think...Also the slabs you can make with them are quite nice...

    Quick question:
    When lava and water meet, does anyone know which block turns to cobblestone?
    Is it the water or the lava flow block?

    @AcidSnake A cobblestone generator has been added to the tutorial. Just boot up a new go at it and you'll find it at the castle.

    And here I was thinking I was all smart and original :)

    Does it drop out cobblestone as blocks that you need to mine or pickups that you just need to be close to?

    @AcidSnake

    I thinks its the Lava. The Water turns the Lava to Cobblestone, not the lava turning the water to stone...

    @AcidSnake

    I've not seen the one in the tutorial but I build one recently with a piston and it pushes out cobblestone blocks that you need to mine. There's a limit to how many blocks a piston can push (12 I think) so if you leave it that's the maximum number of blocks it will produce.

    Hmmm...thanks guys, I think I'll look at the tutorial for inspiration and copy that for mass production...

    I'm already imagining an underground complex with a train track leading up to it and finally a use for a cart with a chest in it...

    Damn, I thought of using the hills near ubergine's silk farm (with a nice decorative chimney) but it would ruin the natural beauty of that area and the cobblestone factory should be located nearer the central station so I can use the existing tracks...

    Maybe in the level underneath the main hall?

    You'll need to set up a redstone repeater so the piston pushes out freshly baked cobblestone rather than being stuck on or off.

    I guess you could set one up large scale so the initial 'column' of cobblestone is itself pushed into other columns. I think the tutorial one does this to create a drawbridge to the castle.

    @AcidSnake - great hall would be ideal as a lot of the digging has already been done. It would also fit in with the wall of furnaces I created

    I can see how you'd make a drawbridge in that way, but how do you retract it?

    My favourite defences involve a winding flight of stairs and a lava based defence system activated at the top. Never gets old. Water is in some ways even better, as you drown them slowly.

    Right, I could make a staircase down from the furnace room to the cobblestone generator...
    I'd have to make a nice tree farm underground then to have an unlimited supply of wood for the furnaces or to make tools to chip the freshly baked cobblestone away...

    Excellent...

    @Crimson:
    But how does the tutorial retract the drawbridge then? Or once it's in place it's stuck?

    Damn, can't wait to get my TV back!

    What?
    Which swimming pool do you mean?

    The bungee pool?
    You need to stay in the exact center to survive by falling through the hole, not the waterfall...

    There's a pool in the sky castle that leads to some caves. I tried to swim back up out of it. Tried and died.

    @AcidSnake The "self building bridge" doesn't retract. You'd have to shut off the machine then pickaxe the cobble to be rid of it, or keep a supply of TNT nearby perhaps.

    (having a bridge MADE of TNT pre-set under the cobble bridge would render the cobble bridge redundant.)

    Hmmm, is there a way to squeeze blocks into other objects so they become pick-ups?
    I like the idea of infinite cobblestone, but I don't like the idea of having to mine it away...Don't think that can be solved though...

    Just found dungeon number eleven in eggmilf. I kicked myself for not collecting all the moss stone as I went, but I've found another two dungeons while returning to the previous ones.

    Going to build a creepy castle out of the green stuff, might be able to contrive having a mob spawner inside it.

    @ubergine:
    Remember that you're working on the copy! We need that castle in our world! :)

    I had wanted to use them occasionally in a castle design to make it seem older, maybe more next to a waterfall or something...

    That's a lot of dungeons...

    Also, what happens if you place activate a piston against a spawner block? Could you feasibly move them all to one location and have a sort of prison?

    I think I read that you can't move them, or that you can but it breaks them somehow, I'll have to look it up again.

    Also, twelve.

    Would be awesome if you could mine them somehow...
    Could even make a whole building to contain them with a central button or something the lights the place up to stop all the spawners...It could be a sort of mission based diversion from the main game...

    Just to a quick note to those budding underground tree farmers out there.

    Did a quick test today and birch trees only produce a trunk and no branches making them 'tidier' to chop down. I think I have OCD as I can't stand having clumps of leaves hanging around because I didn't get all the wood chunks.

    The only downside is the smaller canopy of the birch gives less saplings.
