Registered 7 years agoThe problem is this extra 'realism' route just makes this the game for the jap-style gamers that can do crazy button combinations rather than us average joes who simply rely on our football intelligence on where/when to make plays.
Now all of a sudden I have to combat through the controls to make simple shit happen.
Ultimately I can do more complex plays in Sensible Soccer cause it isn't a dick.
Yes, I'm buying Fifa 13. Let's hope our EG team does better than last year.

I really enjoyed last season's career mode. Okay, it was far from perfect but kept me entertained for a good 6 months or so. Looking forward to the improvements mentioned to CM as well as seeing how the adjustments to the AI turn out, as for me, this has been one of the biggest issues with the series since its 2007/2008 refresh. -

They've taken PES's training challenges and put their own Virtua Tennis style spin on them, the 'Barca/Spain' style piggy in the middle looks cool, the others also look a lot of fun admittedly.uglygamer wrote:

About the 'fluid physics and animations' that people always say FIFA has, not wanting to troll, but they are mainly just visual and do not advance gameplay that much. When the player individuality stats start having a more pronounced and discernible effect on the pitch like they always have in PES, then maybe. PES' apparent "clunkyness" and toughness to get into is an attempt to simulate human movement, 'footplanting', inertia and momentum while running with and without the ball, as well as stat differences.
FIFA's apparent 'fluidity' makes for a nicer looking and more pick up and play 'game', but is really cosmetic and aesthetics based. PES's ball control (first touch), dribble accuracy, agility/accl stats actually make the players feel technically different, but too many FIFA players feel the same with individuality minimized or toned down in the quest for 'fluid' animations. The 'personality plus' thing was an admission from FIFA's developers and tried to address this by making players more unique but it didn't really work; for all the bashing and grandstanding PES is still superior in that *crucial* aspect. -

Its good to occasionally check out the competition now and again for tactful comparisons.

It seems as if FIFA doesn’t get much criticism because of its fluid animations, I’m surprised how its generally seen to be a flawless, perfect football game. It has its merits and innovations, and a measure of fun. Comparing the 2, imo PES is a deeper game than its made out to be, and it still manages to be fun as well.
When you break down the mechanics of a football game into its technical aspects: statistic implementation of player individuality which should result in pronounced and discernible player differences; varied first touch and ball control depending on stats and ball physics; the effect of physical player movement in terms of footplanting, momentum, inertia; artificial intelligence in terms of players creating space and making intelligent runs or functioning as a defensive unit; and depth and flexibility in strategy and tactics that have tangible effects in game - PES has these in abundance, although its obviously not flawless either.
Because PES doesn’t have the same level of perceived fluidity in animation tech that FIFA has people generally dismiss the unglamorous things above that PES does very well.
Both have a mixture of arcade and sim aspects, but if you ignore any sim leanings both games are still fun in pick up and play sessions when you have mates around with a few beers etc.
Regarding FIFA 13, I wonder if the skill games include live multiplayer in them, it would make it even more fun trying to beat someone’s score or time as you’re both working on different sides of the pitch, or optionally to take turns.

Registered 8 years agofreedumbs point is good. However i think this is what EA are trying to finally change with 13.
however i bet more people complain that Djimi Traore can't chest the ball down, pirouette, kick it up and volley it in from 30 yards like messi can, or that senderos keeps getting bullied off the ball by drogba.
theres no pleasing some people -
