    @corpse,

    We've had that one in here, but its good to see it again. That guy does plenty of things right, including not taking himself too seriously. He could have just sodded off up North, mind.

    I just watched Ep 2. It's interesting to see how other people play and I'm glad to see he doesn't shoot on sight. Also I'm not surprised with what happened in the hold up, in that situation I'd have probably done the same as those guys just on instinct.

    GAH! Eaten again. I'm not very good at judging the detection range of the zombies. One of them got a lucky blow as I was just below 9000 blood, got knocked out and it was game over.

    Sorry Slurmseh I would but I'm not all that close and any time one of our group goes near that cursed town something very bad happens, usually breaking a leg when we don't have any morphine.

    got a good start tonight. Almost got involved in a couple of firefights in Elektro, but got some good survival loot and headed towards Rog whilst the gettin' was good.

    Do you have blood Slurmesh? I could transfuse you, but I have no packs.

    No, I don't have any blood but I could trade some morphine. I've only been raiding Deer Stands so I'm low on medical supplies. Too scared to venture on my own into a proper town where there's a hospital!

    Well now that I think about it, it might be a little awkward considering I'm in Canada, and will be heading off to work in a bit.

    I'll soldier on in this black & grey world and hopefully get sorted somehow!

    FUUCK!

    Just went into a server, pitch black. Know I'm on a rooftop but decide to press the prone key and I can ear my player take about 4 very quick steps forward and I guess lunge completely off the roof, maybe 2 or 3 stories up and instantly fall unconscious, broken legs ect. FUCKED.

    Definitely not the way I wanted my character to go.

    Aha, I see. I've been treating this game a bit like EVE (ie. I'm having more fun reading and hearing about it than I expect I would playing it), and that was one thing that had confused me a couple of times it had been mentioned.

    On one hand I really want to give this game a shot, on the other I don't think my laptop could handle it oh and I have absolute BS internet that I'm paying 50$ a month for, oh and I have no friends, this seems quite challenging without friends. I'll just have to stick to 240p videos.

    Are you dead? Or just bleeding with broken legs and regained consciousness? If you aren't dead yet you can still be saved.

    Hmmm, I don’t think I’m really “getting” this.

    It just seems to be the quietest, most spread out death match I’ve played, with added annoying Battlefield snipers dotted around and the odd zombie chase. There’s bugger all zombie apocalypse survival, it’s just 40 people spread over 200 square kilometres, trying to find and then kill each other.

    Meh. Oh well, bring on the next fad for me to try and then fail to understand.

    @StarchildHypocrethes I think that's a tad reductive.

    It's only a deathmatch if you make it one, I've seen a few people i've not taken a shot at and not because they were better armed, I could easily have killed them. I've only killed one player and that's because he killed a buddy of mine.

    As for no survival, well I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion, there would seem to be plenty to me. Maybe you could clarify that one?

    I think if you're not killing people you're sort of missing the point. Why bother playing at all if you're just going to camp in the woods and recce for supplies every now and then?

    People seem to put far too much onus on everything but killing people who would kill you if they had a chance. It's all about hunting for other players who are hunting for you.

    Well it's not about anything really, the game has no point. The slightly paranoid idea that everyone is going to try and kill you is really just a self-fulling prophecy.

    Heh, I'm not paranoid, I'm killing snipers who are shooting at me or people who are cowering behind buildings with nothing but a hatchet.

    It's a shitload more fun than killing pigs for meat and cooking it on a fire.

    I think after reading how it was the zombie survival game everyone had been waiting for etc on places like RPS, it just seemed a bit disappointing to find there was bugger all co-op zombie survival and is purely survival against 39 other people with guns.

    Just not what I was expecting I guess and so is a bit disappointing in that regard.

    You can make it whatever you want it to be, the pvp stuff is usually far from the case, but the zombies prove to be so unchallenging that there's really very little else to do. Trying to find and get a chopper off the ground is far, far too much hassle, even for a large group of people.

    I think I’d just gone in expecting some kind of amazing openworld-hardcore-Left 4 Dead-with-more-people-and-vehicles-and-shit-holing-up-somewhere-and-praying-for-survival-awesomeness.

    Instead I just keep getting shot by people hidden in trees.

    Fair enough DB, we all choose to play it differently, that's the beauty of the game.

    Starchild, there honestly are co-op elements but they're aren't all that rigid. You generally survive a lot longer in a group, you can help each other out with supplies etc and good luck getting a blood transfusion without another person :)

    I would love some tips or guides on dealing with the Z's as I seem to aggro them far more than some people seem to.

    I know it spawns them into areas in response to your presence, but I get the impression sometimes they're pretty much spawned right on top of you. Is it best just to always crawl when you get close-ish to them?

    I see some videos where people just seem to crouch-walk right past them, but there's no way I could do that without attracting their attention.

    It needs a goal beyond "survive". God knows what off-hand, but at the moment it's "I have supplies... OK now what?"

    Maybe if there was some kind of greater inventive to work together, not just in small groups but in larger communities. Hold towns together for the sharing of resources and defence. Maybe then you'll get more interesting PvP fights with those who don't want to play nice.
