need to replace my 9800 gx2. So far I've narrowed the selection to the two models in the subject.|
I'll use it only to play games, on a monitor with 1920x1080 native resolution.
I've found specs, comparisons etc. So I don't really need info of that type. What I really would like to know I could not find anywhere:
- how about the driver stability and updates? (I've had bad experiences with ATI in the past). Currently running win 7 64 bit
- is 2Gb memory really that much better at my resolution?
- is Physix support really that important?
- don't think I'll ever need CUDA; haven't heard of games using it; am I wrong?
- should I really wait for something new that will come out soon, that I don't know about?
As a general attitude, I've been burnt with ATI in the past, and I'd rather stick with nvidia. But I'd like to keep an open attitude...
Thanks for your suggestions!!

570 has given me one driver issue and one only. It was very easily remedied. I got mine in January 2011
Get the 570 and overclock it. Don't bother with the 560 Ti if you want decent frame rates (ie a solid 60fps) at 1920x1080. I've had some experience with a 7870 and it was decent (before it imploded) but absolutely not as fast as my older 580, despite what benchmarks say.
I have the 580 model of that ^ and it runs very cool and nice and quiet, although it doesn't overclock very well, but then I never have much luck in that department.

Thanks everybody for the replies so far.
I've never been particularly attracted by overclocking (don't know, maybe I'm afraid the card is going to last less in the long run).
Anyways, this is why the gtx 560 Ti had been originally left out in my selection.
This far, I am beginning to favor the 570, will take another look at the performance of the stock 560 Ti to see if it's worth being considered as a contender

I paid £185 for my normal GTX 560Ti.
I somehow feel even better about it now.

I would recommend the gtx 480 if you still can find one.
I finally ordered a MSI gtx 570, the one with two fans. Now I hope my power supply will be able to manage it!! thanks everyone, I will post impressions as soon as I try it. not an expert or anything, so don't expect reliable judgement
edit: oh, and btw, I'm sure there are better price/performance deals out there; thanks for all the valuable insight. Ultimately, I think I tend to choose based on how I feel about a product or brand. Specs matter to me only to a certain degree, and after all I will not have alternatives to do an objective comparison...

Twin Frozr series are really good. Enjoy.
