    The slow raising lift that enemies pile onto
    Bunch of kids out to save the world in most jrpgs
    The last boss who spawns into several forms

    You just have to make it through here, something happens, take this long route and kill lots of things.

    That gun, move or jump that works on everything, guess what, doesn't work on this.

    I like to imagine that in all these games, somewhere out there is a haggard old man, shuffling from dungeon to dungeon, dipping the old torches in a giant barrel of pitch he carries around his neck like a St. Bernard. He's the real hero of that universe, not you.

    I hate this one, because in some situations I think 'ah, they are suggesting that people have been here really recently', but that's never the case
