    Yes, it is being retired along with the analogue broadcasting signals that carried it. Teletext and Oracle departed quite a while back.

    heh i remember days of watching footie scores come in on teletext.

    and waiting for the gossip page to roll round from 4/4 to 3/4 so you could read the page you missed.

    300 was sport, 302 was football IIRC

    I used to love playing Bamboozle on it. I also remember being very jealous of people who got a new telly that had fast text.

    The hold button was a complete con. The current page advanced anyway, so when you took the hold off it would just display the currently broadcast one.

    say you press hold on 1/4, take time to read it, release hold, it could be 3/4 that was next. Meaning you'd have to wait for the whole bloody thing to round again.

    Most pointless feature ever.

    Yeah, I pretty much gave up on Teletext when 4-Tel died. Ceefax is just for the cricket scores and now&next.

    Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

    The overlay feature of having the football scores at the bottom of the screen as you were watching something else was rather nice in ye olden times.

    Hmm, on consideration this means I now have no idea how to find the official home office list of countries that you should probably not visit at the moment.

    I mean, I could google it, but it's not the same.

    Being ill and unable to sleep, passing the hours reading FCO advice.

    The mix button, so you could watch TV at the same time!!

    I once asked a friend who worked as a news reader for a local radio station where he got his stories from, Ceefax he said.
