Registered 8 years agoTrying it again now. I've watched a couple of tips videos on YouTube which give good advice, although I'm not really applying it that well. The thing I find most annoying about the combat is that a) the block is not instant; you have to wait for him to assume the blocking stance, which takes about quarter of a second, and b) that you have to block and then press a button to parry now. I don't recall in GoW3, but in GoW2 all you have to do to parry was block as their attack connected and Kratos would automatically parry. I cannot get used to this two button requirement now. -

Registered 8 years agoWell, I've completed it. Those last couple of hours did their best to tar the whole game, because I was really enjoying it up until then. A good last boss though, and I quite enjoyed the closing cutscene even though, despite all their claims, Kratos isn't really any different in this game than he is in the others.
I enjoyed it overall, but I need a break now. Not sure I'll bother with the multiplayer. -

Registered 8 years agoYeah, I used magic attacks a lot too; particularly in the first section when I was surrounded by gorgons and sirens. Have you upgraded the heart stone talisman thing that Orkos gives Kratos? That's useful too. As is the trinket which slows down time. I forget its name. -

Not that it matters a great deal but I'm playing GoW3 at the moment and you do have to hit square after blocking to parry. -

So far I've manage to reach the second phase with about a third health but no magic. It's supposed to get easier from here but I just got spam attached to death everytime I came out of blocking!
I'm sure I can beat this part, but it seems I need to go back in the game a spend my orbs more wisely, perhaps not bother upgrading the ice blades (seem pretty useless to me) and using them for L2.

Registered 7 years agoReally enjoying this. It improves greatly as you progress. Don't think I am at that difficult part yet but I hear it was patched last night. -

Registered 9 years agoBeen playing this for a while - disappointed in it. Feels very unpolished and buggy compared to their other releases. The sound issues should never have got past Q&A either. The game seems very short too compared to the previous games. -

Registered 3 years agoEnjoying this. It does seem very quiet so far. Kratos has barely said a word so far (about two hours in), which makes it quite hard to remember why I'm doing things. I just attached some snakes to a tower so I could get...somewhere.
Playing with Greek language and the subtitles are hilariously poor. "Let's see how you deal with [no suggestions]". Hmm... -

Registered 2 years agoFinally passed the trial of archemidies! It may have been post patch but i don't care. The first part is still pretty tough to be honest but once you get to phase 2, judicious use of blocking, L2 magic and rolling should see it done, the orbs keep coming now so it shouldn't be too much bother to do the third part either, in fact I ended up with nearly full health by he time it began. -

Registered 2 years agoFinished! Overall it was a bit easier than previous gow's, 'that' part aside anyway. Id say the game is a solid 8 for me (thats without the multiplayer i ve yet to try). It does nt have quite as memorable moments as gow3 and lacks a bit of polish here and there but if your a fan of the series, like me you'll still love it. Playtime for me was 10.5 hrs, im not the best gamer in the world but i cant understand some who say its too short for this type of game.

Registered 2 years agoMultiplayer is great fun, but I'm waiting for ages in lobby's as no one seems to be playing, if anyone is into this at the moment please add me Psn ronzy.
I think after completing the game, watching the excellent making of extras and delving into the multiplayer, ascension as jumped up into 9/10 territory for me,. Sure it's a little buggy in parts but as a package its a lot better than most games I've played. -

Yes. Doesn't make it any easier. As soon as those electricity shooting cunts appear along with the gorgons I descend into rage. It's beyond fucking cheap.
