Have finished all single player tournaments and mini games with my Mii. Great fun but far too short, it takes too long for the difficulty to ramp up and even then it's on the easy side. You can only play 'Ace' difficulty in Exhibition and then it's well hard. They needed a few more tournaments set between 'Pro' and 'Ace'.

It's a shame the single player content isn't better thought out as the core gameplay is fantastic. Same goes for online, great fun but really lacking in options. This is a great handheld game but it's basically the bare bones. A couple more months in development and you feel it could have been top drawer.

Yeah, that pretty much sums up the game. Perhaps we can get some euro gamer tournaments or a league going on the forum. Could work if we can get 8 or 16 players.

Chase that White Yoshi. Pursue him/her/it beyond the cereal boxes. Rumble by the fruit & veg, the rows of lifestyle mags. Navigate the dairy and refrigerated goods aisles.

Searching for a QR scan image in selected Tescos (noted through the link), will get you a White Yoshi in your Mario Tennis in the UK, tomorrow and Saturday. US people don't get dinos for bringing their 3DS out shopping, instead merely being requested to acquire the characters (there's still red and blue on the way) online.

A quick trawl online will show up the QR codes for White and Black Yoshi. There's a code for the Yoshi costume on the game's website too.

Day off today so been playing a bit online. It would appear that it is almost impossible to compete against Mii characters with the best equipment (rainbow shirts etc), if you are also not using a similarly powered mii. I just played 2 games as mario against someone who was using such a setup...they destroyed me 7-1, 7-2. Then a little while later I played them mario v diddy kong and the match was much more competitive. I won in the end. Hate to say it but online seems a bit broken and you can kind of tell even before a match starts if you have a chance or not.

If you're playing online you'll either need a star nintendo character or a fairly souped up Mii to stand a chance. You can be good at the game but you still need an appropriately powered character to compete. It is no fun to crush or be slaughtered by an opponent simply due to overpowered characters. I've seen a lot of people using Yoshi or Boo due to their extremely curved serve. If you can return the serve against either of them you've a good chance of winning the point.

Had some epic matches against a computer controlled wario this morning lost them all but it was going to 5 sets with the last match going 2-0 2-3 3-2 0-2 1-3 I quite like this game I just wish the first four cups were not so easy

Unlocked my first new character, disappointingly uninspired but nice that there's more than just outfits etc to unlock. Finally ramping up in difficulty too, star DK is evil.

    @Agent_Llama

How did you unlock your new character? I have completed the star cups once and the normal cups twice but no new characters

You get the characters by completing the third stage of each special game.

I've been playing this a lot online and there's a lot more depth than is first apparent. The better you get, the more like a 'normal' tennis game it seems. The chance shots are usually the result of forcing an opening, and you quickly learn to defend most of them - in fact they add quite a lot of psychology to the game against human opponents.

The core gameplay really is terrific, it's just a shame the single player and online modes are limited in scope.

@Afiddes What Gaol said :-). Have managed the Ring Shot and Inky Piranha Plant thingy. Got to 81 on the rallying with Luma (mental note: new racing franchise?) and can't even do world 1-2 on the Super Mario Land one.

My only gripe with character unlocks is that they're cop-out characters so far.

Just won an epic final in the last single player tournament. Really had to pull it back from the brink of defeat. Beat DK 1-3, 0-2, 3-1, 3-2, 3-2. Had 3 championship points in the last set but bottled them all. Finally won 7-4 in the tie break. Great stuff, what a battle!

Just won my 100th match online - which means I must have also lost at least 100 matches as well. I would say I'm winning about 60% of my matches now. The more I play this the more I'm enjoying it. I seem to be maxing out my rating at about 2100 (using Star Mario) and then I start losing games due to playing vastly higher ranked opponents or those who have ridiculously powerful Miis. I can sometimes beat the rainbow equipped Miis but not very often. And sometimes I lose just by playing rubbish.

I vastly prefer the chance shot system over the gc version's super shots. Chance shots are definitely not an automatic winner and they can sometimes make you lose the point as your opponent can anticipate what you might do. I've found it good to fake out opponents by not doing what they think. All in all, now I've had a chance to think about it more, I'd say that this is a very solid tennis game, hugely enjoyable online but just lacking a few extra options to make it a classic.

Well I've been hovering at around 2200, and while the Miis are powerful I am still coming up against some excellent players using Dry Bowser, Boo, coloured Yoshis and even Luigi. Whats more, the Miis aren't always set up the same way - some people have crazy serves, others focus on side spin. It should be better balanced, yes, but it's not a dealbreaker.

And you can unlock the stuff pretty easily so if you can't beat em consider joining them.

Problem is that I don't really enjoy playing the mini games to earn coins. I've unlocked lots of equipment but I can't afford it. I don't really want to sit for hours and hours spamming the mini games just to get stuff. It was a mistake not to earn coins for online play.

I am terrible online. How are the Miis so powerful? I am wearing some of the same things as they are. Do your Miis power-up in some way through using them? My ranking is a lowly 1800-ish. :(

Ive stared all the characters (including the secret ones) and want to carry the tournaments on but have no enthusiasm to do them as I've also unlocked all the items. They really should have added coins as a price for winning a match after you unlocked all the items, I just don't want to spam the mini games to get coins.

Not found anyone on street pass yet with the game which is disappointing as I would like to give that ago and see how that works for myself.

Online is great! I can't get enough now I've done all i wanted in the single player. The Miis are so powerful and hard to play against tho. I find i tend to either win with not much effort but then get my arse handed to me and can barley score a point! Hope once the levelling evens out I can have some more completive matches.

If anyone ever fancies a match online I'm more than willing just let us know you've added us and I will do the same.

You've not given them a chance. You can get over a thousand coins from one galaxy rally challenge; and my record on the rings is 850 odd.

What you say is true, but I am obviously not as good as you at the mini games. I cannot complete the third ring challenge or the third luma rally. I really feel very little compulsion to play the mini games. I guess I just find them boring, I'd rather be playing multiplayer. Anyway, no point moaning about it, can't see the online changing to accommodate earning coins for playing.
