If you kill your own characters you may get a different ending.

There is no problems with enemies killing your characters.

You may however wish to protect your characters better. Perhaps only bring out the mages at the end or even throw them back into the starting panel.

Ah, lost for the first time yesterday. I'd been wondering how far I could get without losing, just for my own curiosity. Totally avoidable screw up on the last level of Chapter 4 due to me not paying attention to the game, too. And to make it worse my final character died from poison before landing the final hit.

Still, got a trophy, so all good. ;)

I was playing Disgaea 3 on my PSV at work yesterday lunchtime, doing the Item maps and didn't realise the time so I had to find a quick way to die and return to the hub room so I could save (why can't you save on the Item maps?). Anyway, I figured not doing anything and instead hitting End Turn constantly would be a swift way to finish the map but to my surprise it took over ten minutes for the last member of my party to finally die as he kept countering and killing the enemies!!! I have a funny feeling that had I actually played it properly that I'd have died quicker...

One of the reasons you can't save in the item world is that it's been known to generate levels that can't be completed... It's never happened to me but you wouldn't want to kill your game would you?

Yeah, I haven't had it happen yet in the Vita game but sometimes you can get parts of the map floating far too far away from the starting area for any of your characters to be able to attack or be thrown to.

Most of the time you should either be able to reach all of the enemies to kill them or have the advancing portal accessible. I always made sure to have a Gunner with Geo Change handy which added a small extra chance that you could generate a warp geo panel but sometimes I just had to admit that I couldn't complete that level. Never go in without an Exit. :D

I normally have a stack of Exits handy - in fact I'll grind low rarity items to lvl 10 just to get them (freeing up residents is an added bonus). That way if you're in a Darren type situation you can jump out and save :D

Hmm, I only ever bother taking one Exit in with me and leave the rest in the Warehouse. Is there a situation where you'd need more than one at a time? I can't think of one offhand but I'm probably being forgetful.

That's what I mean - I just have a load of spares so if I use one I have others to replace the one used from the bag.

Obviously not but then why isn't there a 'Quit to Hub World' option then so I can save it there like I normally do? The only exit option I can see on the Item maps is one to quit to the TITLE SCREEN which flashes up a warning that you'll lose your progress if you do so.

What are these Exits? I don't think I have have any and clearly didn't realise you could use those. Do you buy them from one of the Stores?

@Murbal Ah okay, misunderstood you there!

@Darren Mr. Gency Exit in full. You're given one by the Item World Guide the first time you enter the Item World and are given a new one for every 10 levels of the Item World that you complete. You use it like you would any other item and it takes you back to the Hub.

I totally don't have time for this until I've finished Persona 3 Portable, but I keep seeing this thread and have no willpower and one-click ordering turned on on Amazon ...

They're definitely two games that suck up a lot of time! I'd try finishing P3P first if your willpower can manage it. Disgaea 3 Vita might be slightly cheaper by the time you finish it, too.

I wouldn't count on that, it's already having stock issues everywhere. Amazon is the only place that has it atm, as far as I can see, for 30. Really tempted to order, but haven't bitten the bullet yet...

    Thanks.

I don't believe I've used it so I presume it's an Item I need to Equip to a character to be able to use it?

Seriously? Weird. Just had a quick look around and there are other places with the game in stock or available to order but they're all 30 so no cheaper than Amazon. At least it will always be on the PSN if it does vanish completely.

Only had one map which was impossible to complete in 500 hours of Disgaea.

It was on the original game and came about by the combination of No lifting + invincible. On that game the exit could also be a coloured tile and this one had a guardian. As all my fist users were dead I had no way to move or kill the guardian. (I assume this is why the exit no longer has a tile below it).

I just looked on Gamestracker, but having actually looked at a few websites it seems it is in stock, albeit for 30+. Apart from Shopto - wanted to order from there so that I could get it tomorrow, got a massive train journey on Thursday where Disgaea would come in very handy. Or should that be the other way round? :)

Just can't bring myself to pay 35 for the PSN version, even though I have more than enough funds...

@Darren The Mr Geny's exit is an item you use and cannot be equipped. You use it the same way you use health replenishing items.

Just make sure it is in your bag and not in the warehouse.

ShopTo have really screwed me over on this. I ordered it on Friday morning, with plenty of time before it went out of stock, and yet here we are today and it still hasn't arrived. I'll spare you the vague excuses of their livechat support, but has anyone else received a copy from ST?

Got mine from Sony store. Will give it a go on the train to London today.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

@Murbal I'm glad someone got it! They had the MCV winners code for 3 off on Friday only, I think they were overwhelmed with orders and don't want to admit that they ran out of stock for the later orders. I've used them consistently for the last few years with practically every order arriving next day. It's knocked my confidence a little in ordering with ST (for Vita titles, at least).

Yep, got mine the Tuesday before release. Best online retailer by an absolute mile.

They're a bit cheeky though, Disgaea was around 27 before the release date, and after the MCV 3 off code popped up the price went up to 30. Now it's staying there, with no voucher code, and no stock. :(

I paid 30 for it from ShopTo prior to release though Kay, so I don't know when they were selling it at 27.

I think it was a week or so before where they had it for 26.85, or something. I think.

Anyway, I think I'm just going to go for the DD version. I take it it's a perfect port of the PS3 version? No problems with loading times or any other odd issues? Is the touch screen stuff all optional (even zooming in and out of maps)?

Yep, you can turn off the touch screen aspects. The only real load screen is before the start screen appears and you have the fun of tilting the Vita and watching a Prinny fall around the screen for the few seconds it takes.
