I'm not sure if you can ever complete a Disgaea game. ;) Regarding Disgaea 1 for the PSP, I've put over 100 hours into it and finished the story a few times but there's always more to do. You definitely feel like you get your money's worth out of them!

Having never played a Disgaea game before - is this a decent entry-point, or would I be better playing one of the earlier games first?

I think you might as well wait the 19 days for Disgaea 3 Vita. All the games begin with (amusing) tutorial levels so you won't have any trouble picking up how to play. Cast-wise it's not always rated as highly as the other three games (personally I think I actually like the Disgaea 4 gang the best) but it will have more content than the PSP releases and also look snazzier.

Actually, does anyone know if the Vita release getting any Near or other features interacting with other players?

Edit: 'The game will also come with a brand new gameplay system called Honor Quotient. This system uses the PlayStation Vita's GPS data to increase the amount of experience you receive.'
'Compete with your friends using the Record Shop: View other players' game stats and rankings on PlayStation Network to determine who the most hardcore Disgaea player is!'

It'd be fantastic if they had some type of multiplayer like Final Fantasy Tactics had.

Still I'm looking forward to this. Yeehaw.

I admit, I stopped reading the review when it made a mistake about the gameplay. I'm already going to be getting it anyway. :)

I found my savefile for the first game the other day and it was over 140 hours...

the only thing that worries me about the review is that it mentions how your view is often blocked by walls and stuff. that really irritates me about FFT, i want to be able to see whats going on, not have to spin the view round all the time.

That's been an issue with all the Digaea games, so I can't think it won't be an issue with this.

I just wish they'd re-do the original with the levelling fix for healing classes they introduced in 2.

I'll probably get this on PSN if the price isn't too extortionate - not more than £30, hopefully. After all, it's not as if the retail version will come with a manual, or any other extras.

Yeah, exactly. I cancelled my Amazon order because there's nothing extra with the physical release and it's not a game I'm going to want to part with. :D

Good shout actually - I'll cancel my pre-order and wait and see. I'm assuming all physical Vita games are going to be available digitally?

That's actually one of the key selling points of the console - all retail releases will also be available digitally, on day 1.

I do think that's good, especially given how rare some games can become. And for those games that don't get an EU release you can still import since there's no irritating region lock.

The Mighty Rose is undecided about this to be honest having never having played any of the previous titles.

Is it anything like Valkyrie Chronicles II on the psp? I am still trying to unlock all the character potentials on that and it is taking forever. Great game though.

I like weird and bizarre games and so would this title fit the bill? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The Mighty Rose for the win!

Nope, nothing like Valkyria Chronicles. It is a zany game but I'd recommend watching some gameplay videos before you jump in and get it, since it isn't everyone's cup of tea.

On another note, Sony did originally say that they were going to have simultaneous digital and physical releases for the Vita, didn't they? Hope the blog bloke is just confused. :/

I was expecting it on Friday (they usually list Friday releases in the Wednesday update too) but the Playstation Blog rep said in reply to people asking that it should be released 'in the next few weeks', maybe next week.
