    He's not a wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am, he's a thriller

Can also recommend Merantau Warrior. Same director, same star. They made it before the Raid.

Doesnt look as glossy but has some absolutely awesome action scenes plus I'd say the story is a bit more fully formed than the Raid if a little cliche'd in places.

    Well worth watching.

Holy shit, The Raid 2 was incredible!! Blows the original one out of the water in every way imaginable! Potential film of the year.

    Yeah it's fantastic.

I was never a massive fan of the first. Like watching someone play Streets of Rage for 2 hours with the same 3 moves, enemies and locations.

I'm the same actually. Still loved the second one but apart from the kitchen fight at the end and maybe a few other of the action scenes they could of cut most of the film out for me and I feel like I wouldn't of missed much.

The reason the 2nd one worked so well for me, was because it wasn't just all action like the first one. Lots of lulls where the story developed, followed by mental martial arts sequences, the likes of which have never been seen in any film ever. Felt a lot more like Old Boy too, in that it had substance to go along with its action set-pieces. So for me: Raid 1 - 8/10, Raid 2 - 9.5/10.

The second film is very good, even if it didn't need to be 2.5 hours long. I liked the compact nature of the first movie a bit more, but the sequel is ambitious story wise and the fight scenes and stunt work are mostly excellent. See it! See it now!
