I saw this a couple of nights ago at an Unlimited Cineworld screening. You're in for a treat.

For me, it's the best action film I've seen since Die Hard in 1988.

Just seen it with q&a with the director, who's a refreshingly down to earth knowledgeable and generally nice chap.

Agree with beastmaster-you're in for a MASSIVE treat.

    Two words-cellroom fight

Were you at the Odeon in Manchester? I was going to go and see it again but couldn't make it.

@beastmaster - yup, that's the one. My trains are a bit dodgy home so was going to skip the q&a-glad I didn't now, was really cool

In fact he was talking about mad dog, and how he can match Gareth pint for pint then gets up at 6 and does a shit load of exercises! And apparently, he sometimes accompanies Gareth on q&a's and people spar against him and he let's them punch him in the stomach. Because of a special breathing technique, he doesn't feel it. And he's apparently a really nice guy. Quoting red dwarf, "what a guy" :)

Not over hyped at all! The action is top notch, but the dialouge is fantastic too, espiecally the boss'.

Really enjoyed it, best man film for ages. Great display of pentjak silat too, nice to see something a bit different.

After listening to the director on Kermode and Mayo a bit earlier I'm really excited about seeing this in an hour or so. Haven't seen anything half decent at the cinema in yonks.

I watched this on Saturday and enjoyed it. The action is superb and the real and visceral aspect was much more satisfying than 'Ong Bak'.

I've heard that this is in fact the "most exciting action movie of the year". Can anyone confirm?

So far. Slow 20 minute build up, straight into no blinking for an hour. Get some eye drops.

T'was simultaneously too intense and boring. I was so shocked by the violence I nodded off at the cinema.

I liked it. I don't think its the best action film since Die Hard or any other such silly hyperbole but if you like a good solid martial arts film its a good watch.

A good 7/10 in my book.

@38 seconds in, that looks like the little beardy baddass. Maybe it's a prequel, or has flashbacks or something.

    Or he isn't dead!

It's the same actor. Character name on IMDB is different though, so I dunno. Maybe Mad Dog's lost twin brother.

Im pretty sure its a prequel, so he might be in it.

Basically far as im aware this is what he wanted to be the first film, but due to budget he changed the story about and made the other one to generate the income to make this.

According to the reports I've read, it's set just after the first one.

I follow the director on twitter, it's a sequel that starts moments after the ending of the first film as corrupt officials and gangsters try and cover-up the crimes The Raid exposed.

So excited for this, love the first one, hoping for a Double Feature in a cinema near me for monster popcornathon! :D
