Complaints about the Silent Hill "HD" Collection have been so bad that Amazon is no longer selling the product.

A user reviewer also states this: To fix these problems[glitches & bugs] Konami released a 200+mb 1.1 patch (that's after the inexplicable 4gb install), but it didn't actually fix anything. Even if you reinstall everything after the patch it doesn't do any good.

A quick copy/paste of a comment on the Gamespot forums: Some of SH3's dialogue has been touched up and rewritten. It works fine, but the subtitles were not updated with it. Most of the time they match, but whenever a new word choice shows up the subtitles don't match what the character is saying. Lazy and sloppy.

It's a real shame and another missed opportunity along with Resi 4.

I read somewhere that they were going to overhaul it. But you'd think a 200mb patch would bloody sort something out.

I mean, have you seen the screenshots of the water in the HD version of SH2? You'd have to have no head, never mind no fucking eyes to realise it's absolutely shash

It's a pity other publishers aren't willing to put in the same kind of effort that Sony have with their HD collections. I just don't understand quick cash grabs like this one. Surely the damage to your company's reputation from releasing a buggy, sloppy port outweighs any short-term financial benefit?

    It's not a remake, it's a port.

Same for the 360 version. PS3 version just runs a bit shit, too.

Wow, they certainly booghaared this one up then :S
Time to dust off the PS1 for this instead then. I wonder if MS are going to stick their "no refunds for this item" policy. If the product is broken I think that means, if they stick to that, it's kida illegal?

If God said “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you,” to Mary - does that mean he loves bukkake?

Depends on what the definition of 'broken' is. As it stands, if you put the disc in the Xbox and you can play the game, it's not broken. It's an unpolished turd, well below the level of shine that's usually afforded to even the shittiest games, but i'm sure M'soft or Sony coould argue that it's playable to it's conclusion, it's not broken as such.

The fact that Bethesda could sell the PS3 version of Skyrim without having to declare it broken means i doubt this'll be any different.

It's not broken though; just very sloppy and poorly executed. You'd be lucky to get a refund on it, as the law in this regard is very hazy.

Anyway, I was really looking forward to this as I haven't yet played SH3 and was looking forward to revisiting SH2 for the first time in about 8 years. I won't be supporting this though, unless Konami patch it properly and bring it in line with the decent Sony HD ports (or even the MGS collection). Why they insist on paying no-name studios to handle these beloved franchises I'll never know - besides being cheap bastards, I mean.

The release date for Silent Hill Downpour has also been removed from amazon. What the hell is going on?

@Bulbatron Maybe they'll wait until furore blows over and release all three games at the same time like they were supposed too?

I don't think that amazon not having the product will stop it from appearing in local shops. I'm horribly disappointed by this piss poor port collection.

Playing the EU PS3 version, and even though the image is slightly 'cleaner', there's nothing broken about it. It plays fine, only slightly choppy at times. Nothing like the debacle people were making it out to be.

This is SH2, btw. Also, no patch required upon installation.

Have you played the games before, are you running into any issues and you're happy with the visuals? Based on what I've seen on NeoGAF broken may not be the best description since it technically runs and all that, but they haven't done a good job with this port at all (IMO).

Yeah, but its been 10 years since I played SH2. I'm not a Silent Hill savant or anything, but it looks and plays fine. The fog doesn't look as convincing, but thats about it. The indoor sections and character models look really good, especially for an eleven year old game.

No hard locks, stuttering or voice-sync problems. Though I think the general point with any HD port, is that it should be perfect, or not at all.

Also, can't comment on SH3 and the new voice-overs. (haven't tried yet)

Hmmm, this differs from what others are saying, stuttering is happening for a lot of people, and the voice synch issues are prevalent according to GAF posters. I wonder if the EU version has a newer patch on disc already or something.

What I've seen of it so far I am not happy with personally, so I won't be buying it. Curious to see how this turns out.

I think it would be a great improvement if EU extended the telesales regulations to digital downloads. A seven day no-quibble refund period if the product isn't actually what you thought it would be.

so the PS3 "can't do fog"....yet they thought "I know let's port the most famous most foggiest game ever!"

I really don't understand it, you'll make people playing it for the first time think it's shit, and an insult to the people who love the game.

Lose lose lose lose lose lose lose situation.
