Ok I know I'm going to get laughed / sneered at by lots of you muso snobs .. But I don't give a **** ! Criminally underrated pop band due to having a silly name and the singers looks.

What do you mean the singer's looks?

AHA were pretty good imo. Manhattan Skyline is a top song. I do think he is a bit of a dodgy live singer though.

I meant the singer was a pretty boy so the girls screamed but lads kind of ignored them , even the recent stuff is great.

Weren't all 45 weeks of those two songs ? Take On Me and Sun Always Shines On TV. Take On Me was there only top 40 hit in 25 years in the US.

Advice = do your research or at least Wikipedia it before trying to be a smartarse !

Big Country "the crossing"...if we are talking underated gems, excellent album, excellent band.

As for a-ha, good pop band, even their rescent stuff is well worth a listen.

Best Bond theme: Chris Cornell or Macca.

There is so much more to them than that, honest ;) SA was a great guitarist for starters.

Yeah the whole pop, boy band thing was always just such a bad label to apply to them - they were far darker than any normal pop act. I mean you didn't hear New Kids On The Block singing about murdering someone, but that's what the lyrics of I've Been Losing You and The Blood That Moves The Body are about.

First two albums were golden, third was good, fourth was complete gash and then they produced their best album of all (Memorial Beach) before splitting up - that's got some seriously dark shit on it too and has the bonus of not sounding poppy at all.

Then they split up, got back together in 2000, released a pretty good album and everything since then was following the law of diminishing returns.

Yeah, I really like a-ha but you don't half get some strange looks when you admit it usually. :-)

    /is only slightly drunk

Oh and the fact that the first album came out in 1985 does make me feel incredibly old - I remember I used to play it in the same tape deck that I used to load my Spectrum games. Hearing the first beats of Take On Me always reminds me of trying to speedrun the Magic Knight games.
