Frank Ocean - Nostalgia, Ultra. I want to love his new album as much as I do this but I just can't.

    Parkway Drive - Dark Days

New track from PD, standard metalcore, nothing too ambitious.

Put your links on you lazy shits! There's no way i'm going to do a whole select, right-click search & youtube.

Also if you could put a warning on for any heavy metal. I'm really too old to listen that plop ever again.

Hecate Enthroned - "The Slaughter of Innocence" (1997)

Back in the day, I used to listen so much to this album that the disc is in terrible condition now. I'm surprised it still plays well... Anyway, this is excellent melodic/atmospheric black metal from the UK. Only downside are the unvaried vocals (this issue plagues their other albums as well).

    Aww, bless! :D

The new Squarepusher album is really floating my boat, and the best track is right on the end! Sounds like a mix of a nice melodic bit of synth with the Mega Man 2 soundtrack on acid.

No heavy metal or electronic (to be fair Squarepusher is pretty mental).

    Some jazz instead?

It's not the mentalness, in the case of that track it's emotions it produces: cold, remote, alone

I'm not against HM or electronic in general but i find both do fall foul of those emotions.

I do find myself listening to more folk these days probably because it feels more heartfelt than other genres.

Ah i see. That's actually the appeal of that particular track, it's cold, inorganic sounding, not very hospitable or inviting. I find very it unpredictable too, i guess i enjoy the challenge of keeping up with it.

I probably enjoy music more than songwriting, so for that reason i love love both metal and jazz, but jazz is so full of warmth and joyfulness compared to metal. It's the perfect antithesis to i suppose what you could call darker music (particularly death metal, which i deeply love).

I had a friend who once played 'Radio Hit' on his show. It was absolutely not a hit!

I don't care what anyone says, that album is still fantastic and ahead of its time. Just listen for the clean vocals in the background of Beneath a December Twilight. Awesome album.

Quite right. I almost know the album as if I had composed all of the songs myself.

Anyone come across This Is My Jam? Simple social site where you update it with your currently listened to song and it shares to Twitter/FB, you can follow what your friends are listening to and it recommends other music based on what your jams have been. I think a few forumites are already using it.

Anyway, my current song of the moment, if you like sickly-sweet over-produced teen country pop. Which apparently I do.

Superb, far better than the first one, sounds as good as anything in their previous incarnation (aerogramme).
