Listening to the National's Sleep Well Beast

Seems pretty good but needs time to settle into the conscience
Definite slowburner, if you like it the previous album is in my opinion stronger.

    Top band!

That last song Sectioned has obliterated any draft record of the year list I had forming in my head

The tribal shuffle nature of this 4Mat chip tune should coax even the most hardened couch potato onto their feet and transport them to a zone they won’t ever want to leave.

As they say - Stay a while.. stay Forever!

I've had a pretty quiet year music wise, i haven't listened to hardly a thing (which is a thing i thought i would never write really :( ) but i just started streaming the Thundercat record that BBC6 radio recommends, and blimey charley it is good.

Maybe an easy comparison to make, but first thing i thought of was Zappa. It's a good record.

edit: Haha think i have fallen into the depths of a youtube meme, apparently everyone has made the same connection with Zappa, make of that what you will.

..the sheer guttural intensity never fails to raise goosebumps with me

famous for the entire band being completely off their heads when recording & Mr Hawkins blacking out after the session, having no memory whatsoever of recording it and having to relearn from the record.

    Big man, pig man
    Ha, ha, charade you are
    You well heeled big wheel
    Ha, ha, charade you are
And when your hand is on your heart
    You're nearly a good laugh
    Almost a joker
With your head down in the pig bin
    Saying 'Keep on digging'
Pig stain on your fat chin
What do you hope to find
    Down in the pig mine?
    You're nearly a laugh
    You're nearly a laugh
    But you're really a cry

    Still awesome today.
