@drhickman1983 me too, great album, it's probably my favourite non-rock album of the year so far. I think it might be my favourite album of theirs as well, like you say its not groundbreaking but it's a victory lap of everything they're good at. How Do You Sleep is fantastic.

The Prophets Of Rage album is as terrible as I expected, I don't mind B-Real in Cypress Hill, but I've no idea what anyone was thinking including him in this. Novelty rap metal bollocks.

Yes it's been a good few weeks, still catching up on Alt J but to add to The National, LCD Soundsystem and War on Drugs, I'm enjoying Rostam - Half Light (previously of Vampire Weekend fame, think he produced their albums and you can tell immediately from the track Bike Dream )

Pretty late to the game, but I discovered Detroit Techno and it's wicked cool.

I found the full 'Stop Making Sense' film on YouTube a couple of weeks ago. I'd always heard it was good, but wow. It's stunning.

The way the set slowly builds around the performance is so cool. Can't help feeling it inspired the 'mechanical environments' in Portal.

Also, I had no idea Tom Tom Club were Talking Heads in disguise. Blew my mind when they went into Genius of Love.

Never watched the full film, but will tonight as I've heard from others and yourself that it's pretty fucking good!

    This is the Kit.

Nice 'reverie' music. Never too loud, not too quiet. Doesn't go far, but takes you with it. Music to drink red wine to on black November evenings, while a gale blows outside.

I love them. They remind me of a female version of Radiohead. Check out Girl Ray, similar sort of band.

All and any synthwave that Spotify randomly seems to be throwing my way every time I open up the app. There is SO much of this stuff. Most of it is pretty good, albeit to listen to at least once. But every other album I probably save for relistening.

And once an album is done Spotify just continues playing music it thinks is similar. Apart from randomly switching to a random rap song once, this has proved a great feature. I've discovered loads of new artists.

I am specifically listening to this right now:

Currently grooving to 'With You In Mind' by the Stanton Moore Trio plus guests.

Stanton Moore is a prolific New Orleans drummer. His day job is with the very excellent Galactic, but he's involved in any number of side projects. This is a collection of songs written by the legendary New Orleans musician Allen Toussaint, who died a short while ago and it's absolutely great.

You'd recognise 'Here Come The Girls' (a version was used as a Boots / M&S / some shop Christmas ad last year), and 'Java'. The name might not ring any bells, but you'll know it when you hear it. The band is tight as anything, and has guests like Trombone Shorty and Maceo Parker.

    At Ł11.00 it's a bargain.

    Aphex Twin - Syro

Didn't like it at first but it's kind of all started to make sense and sound musical instead of the initial reaction of bleepy bloopy noise... Now I like it a lot.
