Soulsavers - The Light the Dead See.

Little bit of a departure from their other work but sounds like Anathma meets Ennio Morricone voiced by Dave Gahan. Worth a listen.

Just picked up the Lana Del Rey album Born To Die (The expanded edition with the Paradise EP included).

Can't stop listening to it - it's absolutely epic! Over the top production, everything washed through with a gallon of angst, it's like Paloma Faith and Lauren Bacall had a kid that was brought up by James Dean and given music theory lessons by M83 and Ennio Morricone.

    Love it!
Yeah, not got tired of that album, yet. The back half is relatively weak but overall it's just quality. Whole thing reminds me of the 'Wild at Heart' soundtrack, for some reason. Mostly 'cos of Angelo Badalamenti I guess, for his David Lynch stuff.

Once an eagle taught me courage. And I will never forget that day

Out of interest you a fan of Depeche Mode? I've been a fan for many years now. Going to see them when they return back to the UK in November.

I'm a big Depeche fan but I don't really rate anything after Songs of Faith.

They've gone on then off IMHO.

    Ultra - genuinely awesome
    Exciter - fucking pish
    Playing The Angel - fantastic
Sounds of the Universe - fucking pish
Delta Machine - actually worth your valuable time

I've listened to all of their albums but nothing after Songs has really done it for me. It is a shame because I genuinely think they were one of the greatest bands of the 80s but they can't seem to nail the modern 'angst rock' direction.

Great album. Took ages to grow on me though compared to Bitte Orca.

Yep, they went to shit when Alan Wilder left.
A shame as Black Celebration till Songs of Faith and Devotion was amazing.

From #7 of Jim O'Rourke's archival series, Old News, released by Editions Mego in Austria.
Not mentionned, but I'm pretty sure this is actually a duo with Venezuelan musician Carlos Giffoni.

For the last 2 hours a few 100 protestants drunk, shouting, fighting, smashing bottles and beating drums, with ZERO police on the scene all because they didn't get to parade down 400m of a road somewhere else.

Still going on right now while my girlfriend and her mum are terrified. Gotta love Belfast sometimes.

Follow me on Twitter @MikeRockavitch ... from a distance of course ... No fat chicks ...
