    @joelstinton I really really like her new one (Marling), apparently the vocals and guitar were done in one take! And she's far too young to have released 4 albums, /feelsold.
    Yeah the guitar sound is really nice too. She like 23? That one probably issue with the album is that it sounds as though its written by a 45 year old woman, its really mature. I guess thats a testament to her writing skills. Really is impressive.

    if she needs a proper man i'm all here ha!
    She's great. Glad to hear the album's turned out good. Heard a couple of tracks on Jools a few weeks back. One sounded very familiar - much like older stuff, but the second track was excellent.

    The National - Trouble Will Find Me. It took a couple of listens (as these albums normally do) but it really is phenomenal.
    Took me an unbelievable amount of of times to tune into this album. I almost hated it the first two times. I Need My Girl is still the best song on there, but the others have sunk into me now.
    It is a great track but I think Pink Rabbits is a National classic.
    I haven't been able to make it through the whole thing yet. Find it really boring. The only National album I really like is Alligator though.

    A documentary about one of John Lennon's 'classic' solo albums. Sounds like turgid mid-paced shite to me, like pretty much all of his solo work.

    James Vincent McMorrow - Early in the morning

    Rather a good singer songwriter I've just recently discovered.

    I think Pink Rabbits might be the best thing they've ever recorded, and I fucking love everything they've done since Alligator. It's just.. sublime.

    Cuurently listening to QOTSA - ...Like Clockwork, which has hugely grown on me, it needs about 3 or 4 listens but it's well worth sticking with. Best thing they've done since Songs For THe Deaf.

    New QotSA ...Like Clockwork, Liking it, without any real standouts so far, a grower I think.

    ...Like Clockwork is good, but as the above poster says there's nothing that really stands out (possibly 'I Appear Missing'). I was hyped up for Grohl being back behind the drums but he's practically non-existent. Definitely an improvement over Era Vulgaris though.

    I've got a feeling we'll never hear tracks like 'Millionaire', 'First it Giveth', 'Tension Head' or 'Song for the Dead' without Oliveri though - slightly gutting. Love that stuff.

    @monkman76

    He only does backing vocals on one of the tracks (and you can hardly hear him at that). I'd love him back on the bass - his bass lines were fantastic - but I can't blame Homme for kicking him out if he did abuse his partner. They lose that kinetic energy, though.

    Currently listening to Trouble Will Find Me by The National. Couldn't get into their previous stuff, but my girlfriend bought this and it's currently neck and neck with Wakin On A Pretty Daze by Kurt Vile for my album of the year so far. Can't stop listening.

    @Bremenacht

    I saw Marling play Wilderness festival and she was excellent. Her voice really is terrific and there is a totally unexpected maturity there.

    How is it that a new National album has been out for weeks and I didn't know???

    I really need to pay more attention.

    Beck's newest single. Apparently he has two albums in the works. One acoustic and one being described as the follow up to Modern Guilt. I really cannot wait.

    Cyberpunk - Billy Idol

    A very underrated album in my opinion. It lived in my walkman for months back in 1993.

    Been alternating the new albums from The National, QOTSA and Alice in Chains currently. All very good. Think The National's one is probably their best for me.

    It's better than High Violet that's for sure. Not sure about Boxer or Alligator though.

    Also - would it kill them to write another song a la 'Mr November' to give the new album some muscle? It coasts all the way through, albeit beautifully.

    Listening to Savages at the moment - overhyped to the gills but there's a few good tracks, especially 'Shut Up' and 'Husbands'.

    Yes, Lennon is pretty naff.

    No more or less than the Beatles though.

    The new Airbourne album. It's pretty good but not as drunken singalong friendly as their last two.

    Listening to the new Billy Bragg. Not sure when he decided to learn to sing, but he's gone pretty country this time around. Not a bad album, but everything sounds pretty similar, meaning only a couple of tracks actually stand out.

    New Vampire Weekend album.
    A solid indie pop gem. Lots of growers, they seem to have dialled down the Afrobeat a little, which is a shame.
