Newsflash: if MOR-but-generally-very-good-indie-rock is more your speed rather than Daft Punk, then the new National album is streaming on iTunes too.

Black Sabbath - Fairies Wear Boots

Thought about this before, is it about wannabe nazi southerners?

Okay, this is one that really made me wonder.

Nine Inch Nails - Head Like a Hole

    Head like a hole
    Black as your soul
    I'd rather die
    Than give you control

Bow down before the ones you serve
You're going to get what you deserve

It seems to be only me, but to me it sounds suspiciously like a song written by some KKK member. I don't really believe Trent is anything like that, but still, doesn't it sound like an awful lot of KKK white supremacy?

Or am I just being too Guardian crybaby sensitive?

I can't tell if you're joking. I really hope you are. Every use of the word "Black" - especially with a negative connotation - isn't a slight on black people. Or are you suggesting that Trent would rather be shot in the face than let someone put Aretha Franklin on his car stereo?

'cos Aretha Franklin kicks ass, you fucking racist.

    I'm a grumpy bastard.

It's because of the black head, not the colour black alone.

I know Trent has shown often enough he can't be racist, and I can't believe he meant it that way. It's just that I heard some white supremacists say almost exactly the same as this whole chorus, including saying blacks had "faces like holes". That's what confused me a bit.

I thought "head like a hole" was suggestive of empty-headedness. /shrug.
Your best person to ask is Mongo I guess, this would be the first time I'd expect him to have a valid opinion on something. Unless he thinks the song is about bringing out your inner victim and fighting against society. In which case, google is probably a better place :/

    I'm a grumpy bastard.

    Gilbert Gottfried - Dirty Jokes.

Just hysterically funny. Quite a few old ones in there I've heard before but his delivery is just quality. The dead hooker joke is just fucking awful :-)

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

New QOTSA, three tracks in. 1 long boring song, 1 decent song that doesn't live up to it's initial promise, 1 bluesy boring song. Disappointing as hell so far, I don't reckon he has a decent album left in him.

I think songs for the deaf and Rated R have never been equalled. Which would be difficult, since they have some great songs on them.

Edit: I did record later with Jools holland last night, so shall see what I think tonight.

    Haha. iPad autocorrect mistakes.
