Fable 1 and 2 were both great games IMO, it's Fable 3 that was disappointing. It could have done with another year. He has made a wise choice by leaving, I mean Fable journey looks terrible.

I doubt many devs want anything to do with Kinect other than experimenting with it in non game applications. That seems to be were most of the passion for Kinect actually is.
A guy I know at Lionhead told me Peter left because he never ever wanted anything to do with Kinect and that MS have some contract for Lionhead to make five Kinect games. -

Microsoft are losing all interesting executives, the only guys left are bunch of city slickers who could be working at any company, all they care about is milking the cow. I suppose its the same story at Apple, these orgs lose their driving spirit and become monsters, they end up like Sony.

Registered 7 years agoPete's a free bird, man. MS wasn't going to keep him caged forever. Not sure why he sold out to them in the first place, tbh. I'd assume to get the money to realize his dreams, but I don't know what makes him think he won't be in the same situation with a new studio.
Unless he plans to sell that at some point too... -

Registered 11 years agoI'm glad he's going back to a small setup again; visited Lionhead during Black and White and it was a lovely studio. On my next visit for Fable, I felt it had lost that a little.
He's a really nice bloke to chat to, wish 'em all the best. -

Registered 11 years ago(Pete Molyneux strides into a board meeting at Lionhead)
"Gentlemen, I tender my resignation."
(he throws an envelope on the table)
"And, I think you'll find that it's the GREATEST resignation letter of all time. A wondrous resignation letter that will signal a paradigm shift in resignation letters and redefine the very concept, for generations to come, of what it means to resign"
(he stands, hands on hips, gazing into the middle distance)
(a man reaches for the envelope nervously, opens it and reads the letter inside)
"Ummm. Yes, thanks Peter. This seems a pretty standard letter to me"
(Peter sits down next to the man and talks in a low apologetic voice)
"Yeah, well, y'know. Ran out of time a bit towards the end. Just needed to get something out and thought this hit all the key points. I could send you an addendum next week, if that'd help. Ah. never mind..."
(he leaps to his feet and points to the sky)
"I make this solemn vow now. When I resign from my next company... it will be BRILLIANT!"
(he leaps out of the door)
*awkward silence*
"Has he gone yet?"
"I think so"
"Good"
(taps number into intercom in centre of table)
"Carol, love? Could you cancel Fable Journey? Ta"Support the Mowgli Dirty Protest!

Registered 7 years agoThat last line is sadly more fantastical than the rest. Lionhead is a Fable factory from now until they eventually get shut down.

Registered 7 years agoWithout PM and his wonky ideas, Fable will probably turn into "Generic RPG #7."

I want him to go to EA partners, it would make sense. Have them make a new RTS, 2K are probably going to have big success with this new Xcom so no doubt EA will want some of that.

Registered 7 years agoIsn't XCOM an FPS - or are there two XCOMs (one being an RTS and one an FPS, of course)?
And I don't think he'd have much more luck with EA than he did the first time. They are also a smotherer of dreams.

Registered 7 years agoI heard from a reliable source that EA banned the word "creativity" from being spoken within its walls. -
EA Partners wouldn't be the same as joining EA, he would retain control of anything he develops, although thats probably bad as well.
