    http://kotaku.com/5890594/peter-molyneux-is-leaving-lionhead-studios-and-microsoft-will-finish-kinect-fable

It is with mixed emotions that I made the decision to leave Microsoft and Lionhead Studios, the company that I co-founded in 1997, at the conclusion of development of Fable: The Journey.," Molyneux said in a statement to Kotaku.

    Speak the truth hussy!

I anticipate a Kickstarter project for "something like Populous" in the very near future!

Should be interesting to see what he gets up to next. He's never boring, I'll give him that :)

Mark Webley is a pretty awesomesauce fellow, look forward to seeing what happens with him captaining the good ship Lionhead too.

    Good on him.

I've been saying for years that the poor bastard should get out of the saltmines. He really wasn't suited to that sort of corporate world.

He clearly felt that MS didn't hold enough ambition for Kinect....

    Come and get it cumslingers!

That would be good. Just so long as it's not one of his mentals like "crasha c ar in a racing game and your friends mum explodes in reality!!" style ideas

Weird. He seemed to promote Kinect a lot. Was that just PR and he really thinks it's shit ?

I also think it may be results too, what have they really achieved since Fable 1 ?

Good. Can't help but feel MS have been holding him back for a while now. Interesting to see what comes next.

Didn't see that one coming but happy for him.

He needs to be top dog at a company so that he can say "we're doing this", and not have to seek approval from the suits above.

It would be funny if he joined the people that recently left Lionhead.

I'd be leaving too if I was as good as forced to make Fable games for 6 years. He's clearly got more to him than that, but hasn't had the freedom to create what he really wants.

I imagine doing Fable this and that for a decade must take it's toll.

Microsoft recently said they were doubling down on their franchises. I can see more devs leaving in droves.

    Onto new a better things.

Molyneux's new venture is startup studio 22 Cans, which was founded by former Lionhead CTO Tim Rance in January 2012.

I'm of the opposite opinion. He seems to need other people to keep him in check more often than not, and he's really not done anything great for a long time. His ideas/games are always over scoped, full of hype, and the result is good but nothing more.

Good luck to him, he'll always be a well known character in industry circles and he'll always have the opportunity to make whatever he fancies but I doubt he'll ever have the kind of successes his original games brought him.

Be interesting to see a DS game from him, or Vita. Or perhaps an iOS title.

Rumours circulating on twitter that he was pushed rather than jumped. Apparently there's a story about to break about him being accused of sexually abusing a young boy a few years ago.
