    Just on the off-chance. How strict are Egyptair, in peoples opinion when it comes to hand luggage? I have a little suitcase that weighs 18kg. Egyptair only allow you 8kg. How strict would they be with checking weight? It fulfills the dimension requirements, so will fit in the overhead compartment. It's just a lot heavier than they allow.

    I just don't want to be stung by a $50 per kilo surcharge

    If it looks heavy then they'd weigh it, you know bulging at the seams.

    It thankfully doesn't. I'm jumping on an easyjet flight today, egyptair tomorrow. I always take this suitcase with easyjet and never have any issues with easyjet. We shall see if I can redistribute weight between hold and hand luggage.

    $50 per KILO. $500 extra on a ticket that only cost me 479.

    If you keep carrying hand luggage that heavy you'll end up needing to see the Cairopractor.

    :)
    Your words on the subject have been taken onboard. I am just trying to see whether someone has had definite experience regarding this, one way or another. I didn't get a response on that travel forum you linked to. I certainly won't risk it, since there are only high-value items in my hand luggage.

    @Vice.Destroyer
    Most flights to Africa give you a 2 piece hold allowance anyway, plus hand luggage
    In fact-Egypt Air do.

    I don't know what is wrong with me. I have seen that page, time and time again. But until now, I read that as them giving you only a maximum 23kg weight allowance, regardless of whether it's one or two pieces. I didn't cotton on, that it will be 2 pieces at 23kg each.

    I feel a bit bad about removing a monitor and three clocks from the hold luggage now. But my Glasgow-London leg only allows 1 piece of hold luggage at 20kg. I wouldn't have been able to do it.

    Is that an Egyptian cotton pun or a coincidence?
    I love how everyone Rameses puns into the thread.

    @Vice. You could just pay the extra case charge on Easyjet.

    That is where I clearly need some more reading comprehension. The website allows me to add another suitcase, but this time I am quite certain it tells you that even if you add another suitcase into the hold, the total weight you can carry is still only 20kg. It makes no logical sense, but that is what the relevant section of the website says when you make amendments to your ticket AND what this helpful graphic says.

    I'm half-Egyptian, I'll ask my mummy and we'll get this wrapped up.
