Hi folks. Looking to buy a new monitor and I wondered if any of you have recommendations.† I'm looking to pay around £150 but can go up to £200.

Monitor needs to have the following:

    HDMI
    1080p Resolution
    24" or above size
Speakers (don't need to be great, just for occasional use)
    Fast enough refresh for gaming

I did buy a monitor yesterday but had to return it. Idiots listed it on site as having HDMI but that wasn't true. Argos fail.

If you're spending that much wouldn't you want more than 1080p? We have those at work and it's a bloody horrible resolution to work in.

This thread will do...anyone used a Dell U2410? Can get one for just under £200, are they any good for games?

Yeah, but no better than a Benq which is half the price.

Does not appear that BenQ do 16:10 monitors.

Personally I keep wanting a Benq XL2420T but that's with 3D in mind, for† the £250 you could probably find a better IPS display.

Known as 'Sharzam' in 98.5% of games

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a decent monitor? Nothing too fancy, I'm not particularly fussed about 3d or anything like that (unless someone can convince me its a worthwhile endeavour). Just moved my desktop into my bedroom to focus on learning XNA and realised that my shitty old lcd monitor doesn't have HDMI, and my pc doesnt have VGA out.

    I've seen this: http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/-/3231/2498/-/23688997/Acer-S240HLbid-24-inch-Widescreen-LED-Monitor-Black/Product.html

    And this: http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/-/3231/2498/-/16086247/Acer-S-series-S221H-22-inch-Widescreen-LCD-Monitor/Product.html

    And this: http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/-/3231/2498/-/19425704/BenQ-G2420H-DBL-24-inch-Widescreen-LCD-Monitor/Product.html

I don't want to spend a lot of money - I'm looking around the hundred quid mark or just above. £150 would be the limit really, as it's mainly just going to be used for browsing and coding, stuff like that. LED would be nice for the extra clarity. For my pc gaming I'll probably continue using it in the living room hooked up to my tv.

    Any suggestions?

Does your shitty old lcd have DVI? If so, a HDMI-DVI cable will suffice.

It is, but I've noticed dimming and browning over time.

Does your PC have DVI? DVI -> VGA cables are a few quid.

    Will do.

Might still pick up that BenQ though, would be nice to have a dual-monitor setup.

Take a look at your gfx card's manual to make sure the dvi is of the DVI-I type (99% it is, but better make sure). If it's the DVI-D type, you won't be able to convert it to VGA.

I need some help from the EG Hive Mind.

I'm looking for a new monitor - nothing too whizzy, and I'm looking to keep price close to £100. Ideally:
    - 20 inches+
    - HDMI (although DVI would be OK)
    - speakers (nothing special)
    - ideally 1080p/decent refresh, but I'm not anal about it

    Go!

You can get a 27″ with 2560◊1440 for about £200 now.

The minute that gets the 120hz treatment, I'm in.

Read the thread, the BenQ is still the winner.

    Help! :)

I've an old Samsung Aqua 21.6 monitor and having just joined Team Green with a GTX670 i'm now looking for a new monitor.

    I'd like to try 120hz, Nvidia 3D Vision 2 and non-glossy.
I've been looking at the BenQ XL2420T, Asus VS239H? and the Dell 2312/2412. I'd get the BenQ XL2420TX but they don't do that in the UK as there's 'no demand'.

I'd like 23"-24" and viewing angles aren't too important as i sit in front of my PC. I'd like vibrant colours but non-reflective screen.

Any suggestions? I'm prepared to go to about £300 for a decent screen. I'm getting old and can't be arsed knackering my eyes looking at bunk screens anymore :)

    This signature intentionally left blank.

    evening all

looking for a new monitor where my budget is around the £150 mark.
I'm looking at the BenQ ones and have my eye on this one -

BenQ GL2450 24" Widescreen LED Monitor

I'm a casual pc gamer where its mainly FPS games with some RTS games, anyone else have good experience with this monitor or recommend an alternative?
    many thanks
