    Potential kickstarter tier rewards

Very tempted to try and talk the wife into the $75 tier. Probably not the best thing to do when we've just made a plan to cut spending completely to save for a house, though.

What an unexpected surprise. Cant say I ever got into the first one though. Maybe I should try and find the time to play that first.

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

    Kickstarter now live - http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/inxile/wasteland-2

$30,000 raised and it's only been live for about 30 minutes.

I'm in at the $50 level (really $65 as I'm in the UK), very glad to see the target has been reached and it'll be interesting to see how far it goes.

    Latest :
    33,494 BACKERS
    $1,658,566
    PLEDGED OF $900,000 GOAL
    17 DAYS TO GO

Apparently according to RPS : "if they can reach $2.1 million during the 17 days remaining on the funding schedule, they’ll be bringing in Obisidian Entertainment, including Planescape: Torment mastermind Chris Avellone, to help them make the game."

Everybody should just calm down a little bit and have a nice cup of tea.

Well since Wasteland 2 is nearing the end of the kickstarter time, it's now got just shy of the 2.1 million target mentioned above.

Also our very own Arcam from Eurogamer is quoted on the Kickstarter page as saying "Shut up and take my money".

If log in to the Ranger Centre there's a Steam code for a free copy of Bard's Tale (with the 3 classic Bard's Tale games included) as a Christmas present for the backers.

First video of it in action, liking that a lot.

I won't be putting a two year old in as party lead though. :-)

I've been lamenting how much games ignore the written word now that they have fancy graphics to do the talking for them. It's really nice to see a developer take advantage of the power of words like this game does. All those descriptions that come up at the text bar on the bottom are awesome. The graphics alone don't even manage a tenth of the atmosphere, or provoke the same kind of emotional and evocative reaction to the characters as the text does. So thumbs up on that!

However, a big, big thumbs down on the lack of color. The original Wasteland was a very colorful game. In an actual apocalypse, color will probably not die. A game does not actually have to be physically dark in order to be thematically dark. I hope to see the final game has bright and colorful areas as well because this trend needs to die and die quickly. It does the aesthetic absolutely no good and makes it seem like a gritty military FPS seen from a helicopter view.

Other than that, lots of stuff looks promising and juicy! I can't wait to play the final game one day!

I'm looking to pre-order the ranger edition this week - anyone know if the boxed editions come with a steam key?

Is it worth starting the game now in early access or wait till Friday?

No, I'm pretty sure they've said that beta saves will be incompatible with the final game.

Enjoying this so far. It definitely feels more like Fallout than Fallout 3 or New Vegas did. It also probably feels more like Wasteland but all I really remember from that game is having to read story bits in a book that came with it rather than in game.

Great fun so far, but I seem to have picked the worst possible party. Tempted to restart. Reminds me a little of Fallout. Sadly Wasteland is before my time.

In fact my one issue would be that it's obviously been rebalanced for people who played the beta, and coming in blind it can be a little over the top.

How does this run? I'm very interested in the game but I have a mid-range APU and I'm not sure what performance would be like. GOG.com seems to be the cheapest place to get it as I get a €9.60 Store credit due to regional pricing.

Think I made some mistakes with my party too but I'm really liking it so far. Only just getting my head around each of the skills. It does seem to pay to have a diverse team but my first foray outside left me in shreds from atomic honey badgers :-P
