Registered 11 years agoA good thing to note about the boss is that the weapons are all in their own little cubbyholes, so if you take one out and kill the crewman that's in there, the weapon is effectively dead from there on. Another thing is if you kill their oxygen, everyone dies, you just have to last out while they're choking.+1 / Like / Tweet this post

Registered 4 years agoGot to round 2 of the boss and couldn't get through his shield having ran out of missiles. Miserable cunt.
Time for one more go before bed.
Gonna missile the fuck out of the oxygen and rely on cloaking this time round, see if that works as well it sounds like it should.

End score 2561 on hard :\
Did it in the Engi ship. I really need to unlock more I think. -

Registered 9 years agoThat's a good tactic that. Once you damage a weapon, and kill the crewman manning it, it's out for the entire fight.
I finally beat it last night, and after four times where I've gotten thrashed I somehow managed to totally kick its arse in the Engy ship. Three anti-ship drones and an ION cannon to suppress its shields just picked it to pieces. -

Registered 6 years agoGot to the end again, this time with my massive new weapon, some other kick-ass weapons, fast-regen shields, two repair drones and other goodies. Got boarded. Lost all O2. Fucked it all up and died without getting near the boss. On easy.

Registered 6 years agoI've only just noticed that each ship has it's own little set of achievements, which is a nice little touch. Also noticed that the Engi ship is far easier to defend using the 'Bastion Med Bay' technique.This post is unsuitable for those with a high rumour-sensitivity.

If you kill the crew (save for 1) in the first round, then in the second round you can send a couple of guys into its drone control to destroy it, lowering the amount of drones that come after you. The extra ones aren't permanent, use cloak to avoid most damage from those.

Registered 6 years agoYeah. I find myself thinking 'may as well just restart now' quite often, when 2/3s through and stuck without enough missiles or enough drones, or with vanilla weapons. Registered 11 years agoBeat the final boss yesterday, with a Torus - two ion beams, anti-ship, defense and anti-personnel drones, a breach bomb (worked wonders on their shield compartment) plus a transporter to beam two Rockmen over. Now I'll have to do the same on normal.

Registered 8 years agoI finally finished this last night. It was that lovely Breach II that did most of the work, blasting apart the things I didn't want to work anymore. still got hammered though, only made it by the skin of my teeth.
I also cheated a bucketload. I'm not even sorry. Didn't even help really, only won because I got lucky and picked up the Breach II.Kirby is the man! Even if he wasn't, he'd just ingest and become one.

Registered 8 years agoI've had a few plays with the Federation Cruiser. The artillery beam is powerful, but takes a fucking long time to charge, it only really becomes useful when fully upgraded (and that's not cheap). In the early game, not having missiles to take care of shields is pretty crippling. -

Registered 7 years ago@Bremenacht I imagine using Cheat Engine to find and buff the values for hull, power, and scrap is probably how.
Cheat Happens also have a trainer. -
Cheating is dishonourable though. Don't do it! Still doesn't really help though. For me, the final battle always seems to come down to how accurate my first couple of volleys are. If the attacks don't hit, death is guaranteed. Cheating helps somewhat as you can have a back-up plan, but it still doesn't help you get the best weapons in stores you pass, or the awesome weapon pre-loader, or a good crew.
Kirby is the man! Even if he wasn't, he'd just ingest and become one.
