    RPS preview

I jumped through the Onlive hoops and managed to play the demo. It's extremely addictive. You basically command your own guys to repair ship parts/attack invaders/put out fires while trying to kill enemy ships.

If you don't have Onlive, it takes about 1 minute to sign up (you don't have to enter anything but an email and a password to register), the client is 1.1MB, and the game loads pretty quick. It's really worth the minimal hassle. I am addicted, and have already paid $10 for their Kickstarter.

Sounds interesting - ta. Reminds of Space Rangers a little.

Are you hot? If not, stay inside and play FTL Isabella.

This is ace. I can rapidly see myself losing hours to the final release.

Sadly don't have the capital (or ability) to throw funds at their kickstarter right now though.

I just upgraded my pledge from $10 to $25, just to enter the beta. This is like crack. I will do my best to make it even better with beta suggestions (hotkeys for your troops).

Heh. I restricted myself to the $10 option. Maybe I'll get to play it on a Raspberry Pi!

This is addictive. Can't help but have 'one last go' over and over. Shame about on-line though - kicking one off every 30 minutes.

It's absolutely stunning. Was playing it earlier in the week when I had flu - only reason I can see for myself deigning to use Onlive personally. Saqdly though I'm skint so my contribution means I'll be waiting for a full release :/

My highscore for the demo: 1196.

Their Kickstarter has made 62K already (their goal was 10K), so it's good to see great games making money!

Just two days left now, so thought I'd bump this thread rather than the usual space-sim one.

Now if only I could remember how I paid for it and therefore which email the steam key will be arriving in..

I've been playing the beta, I still think it's great, it's only gotten better since March.

Someone needs to make a Blakes 7 Liberator skin. Game concept reminds me of the best bits of that series, when they are on the run from the Federation.

Pricing and DRM details on the website, best to buy direct for a DRM free version and a Steam key too.

Yeah it's very similar, except you're the Federation on the run from rebels in this! :-)

Maybe an upgrade could be Orac? It doesn't help too often but will call you names on a regular basis.

Direct-from-the-devs purchasing is now up and running, and $1 off at the minute. Just bought it myself and it came out at 5.74 via PayPal. Payments being routed through Humble Bundle, so it gets added to your Humble library too, plus they chuck you a Steam key. All very super indeed!

Just had my first go through this (bought from dev and got the steam key).

Very good game, though lost in the end. Certainly not easy.

I've played it for something like 12 hours on normal, I don't think I've got past the sixth sector.

I was going so well on this run too.

In space no-one will hear you rage quit.

Oooh this looks great! Well, except for the "of course you lost, it's a Roguelike!" - I get that about Roguelikes, but I also like to win. Or at least, not die.

Or is dying made fun as part of the gameplay, like it's supposed to be in Spelunky?

Any Netflix library in the world for a couple of quid a month? Gimme!

It is certainly possible to win, certainly on easy mode (don't let the name put you off, it's not easy).

There is a lot of luck involved however. Second playthrough I would have given my left arm for any sort of weapon but getting to the 6th sector with your starting weapons still makes it trick.

I don't mind not winning, just as long as there's some sort of mechanic in place so I can see if I've just had my best run.

@Murbal the stats are fairly detailed on how we'll you've done on different runs, who has lasted longest etc.

The biggest tip I would give is don't rush you need to get as much scrap as possible from each sector before moving onto the next, keep clear of the rebels but don't head straight for the exit in each sector.

All my time has been on normal.
