Thought it might be useful to have a thread to discuss these groups, seems like they may be becoming more and more relevant, which also likely means a lot more dangerous.

The reason I made this thread in particular is because the Scottish Defence League (an offshoot of the EDL) is marching in Glasgow tomorrow. Of course there will be a counter protest being held, but if any violence breaks out, I'm guessing the SDL will be in a better situation, being made up of mostly hooligan thugs.

Anyway, what I'm most curious about is why people think these groups have had a resurgence recently, what's likely to become of them in the future, and how you believe we should deal with them. For example, should we just outright ban them, or would that be infringing on civil liberties?

I was at an Anti-SDL demonstration in Irvine in the summer. No violence that day, and we won. Although one of the SDL guys had a sign which read "Mohammed was a paedophile. FACT." Which I found hilarious.

So who organises an anti-SDL protest then? And which side are the pandas on?

Yeah, we might have some jobs to steal, but I don't see why anyone would want to steal our women :D

From what I gather, they are made of a few people who are actually genuinely racist and the rest of them are just people looking for a fight and idiots who need to follow someone.

The thing is, as much as i think they are all morons and their views are those of people with severe mental issues, the fact that we live in a democracy means they are entitled to that opinion and are also entitled to voice it. As long as no laws are broken it is their right to do this. The more people draw attention to this the more publicity they will get.

Not necessarily, we don't have full free speech. So if they voice views which can be defined as hateful towards others, I assume they could face ramifications.

...and the fact that we have representative rather than direct democracy means that (hopefully) theirs won't amount to much! \0/

What about the other side of the arguement, Argem Choudary and his cronies? I never hear people condeming Islamic extremeism even though it's responsible for some of the worst crimes against humanity.

Probably because that's like condemning Nazis or KKK members etc. It's pretty much just taken as a given for those of stable minds.

I am fairly sure Fascism trumps Islamic extremism for carrying out the worst crimes against humanity. I doubt if Islamic extremists are in the top 10.

Aren't these groups just an excuse for football hooligans to start a fight?

These are not new, they have been around years but are only getting more public recognition with websites / news coverage.

With the setup of UKIP, a lot of BNP non racist members moved to UKIP - your standard white supremacist lot stayed in the BNP and then began forming these other groups.

Skinheads / whites for the win and all that shiz groups of nutters has been around for beards.

UAF are just as fascist tbh, stamping out fascism by dictating which political parties can stand and who should believe what, all sounds a bit fascist to me.

It's just chalk and cheese, or some such shit

The anti-SDL crowd normally swamps the SDL cretins - on the first one they couldn't get out of the pub :) In the past numbers have been 1800 vs 80, 2000 vs 50, hopefully a good turnout tomorrow against the bastards. Would like to take the kids, but the in laws are up....

It is difficult for the pandas, it's a black and white issue.
