Cheers! I might have to give it a go then. I'm thinking rental first and then buy it if it's any good.

blandness confirmed basically. looks like they tried to copy COD, and moved away from original game - which was the only thing going for it. -

Registered 2 years agoSome things I learned,Spec Ops gets a skill to look through walls for a few seconds. While, wait for it,recon gets a bipod and able to spot.lol
I like the throwing of the UAV toy plane animation, but not the fumbling to pull the pin when throwing a proximity mine every time.
There is also lag compensation like in BF3 so people with poor connections wins and will shoot you round corners.I have seen plenty of 1v1 WTF moments. -

Reading that review, its an absolute load of shit. For starters, its a review of the CAMPAIGN ONLY, they havent even touched the Multiplayer - If people only reviewed the campaigns for COD or Battlefield 3 they would most likely get 6.5/10 too.

Registered 2 years agowilling to bet other reviews don't fare much better either.
it's a rush job and a COD wannabe. a COD clone at 30 frames is never going to work.
the campaign in the last game was quite good, and the multplayer was from DICE. they've gone and messed up the campaign with its identity crisis, and no DICE for the multiplayer this time.
almost guaranteed to be shite. -

Registered 9 years agoThat's a bit harsh. It's not been rushed and it's not really a CoD clone either. They've purposely steered away from the MOH MP design (which was a COD clone) and tried to build something that plays in similarly sized maps but with more teamplay (predefined soldier classes a la BF and the Fireteam Buddy system). -

Fair point, but that NowGamer review is clearly a "look at us!, we stayed up past our bedtimes so we could review this game!" review - not even mentioning the MP is inexcusable.

Im happy to wait a few days for some proper reviews before buying it"Look at banner Michael!"

I reckon EG may report below that. Average is being kind to it on this impression. Review copies supposedly not going out in advance typically isn't the best sign of enthusiasm, either.
Points should also be docked for lackadaisical tomahawk integration. I thought the business end of one would be embedded in an enemy forehead, after the door had been shattered open. -

Incorrect, otherwise Dan Whitehead, for example, must have received it and reviewed it on US release day.Whizzo wrote:

Embargoed until the US release is one thing, not giving the press copies until it's in US stores is another.

Fact is, both games came in hot due to multiple factors (but largely due to day 1 patches). We got around ours with certain events and other situations we were able to manage, DCG haven't been so lucky.

Registered 11 years agoSo my point is completely correct, BF3 was made available to reviewers prior to release (if only two days ahead of the US release) while Medal of Honor was not, in fact members of the public had bought it before the press copies turned up.This space left intentionally blank.

how's that nowgamer review looking now?
EG mention the identity crisis problem too... seen it a a mile off. this is a johnny no-namer dev getting told what to do by the publisher - with someone else's engine. results were predictable.

The score is bollocks too. Reading the text if it wasn't a big publisher that would have been lower than five. I don't know why EG even bothers with scores (actually that's a lie, I know why, Metacritic) given they rarely have anything to do with the text it publishes.

Registered 11 years agoStrange that a Premium membership for BF3 on console actually applies to get a 50% off code for the PC version on Origin.
This may or may not mean I've picked it up for 20 quid, I did quite like the MP when I played it at the Expo I just thought the respawns were shit and it looked pretty horrible on the 360.This space left intentionally blank.

Don't worry, Future Publishing are coming in with 14/10 scores to get the metacritic up.
